A stockholder and shareholder are basically the same. It is a part owner of the company.
Stakeholders are a wider group of people/companies/institutions. These have an interest in the (performance of the) company for various reasons, Typical stakeholders are the employees, shareholders, tax authorities, unions, but also parties that are funding the company besides the shareholders like banks, bondholders, etc

a Company has various Stakeholders. These vary from the company's employees, customers, suppliers, debtors, government.. etc. all of which have differing interests and demands from the company. infact one of the biggest challenge of any company is on how to maintain a harmonious balance between all these varying demands. One category that falls under Stakeholders is infact the Shareholder, or else Stakeholder (they mean the same thing) these people own shares within the company and have the right to receive dividends. There are two main kinds of shareholders, the preference share holder and the ordinary share holder..

Stockholder = someone that owns a share of a company
Stakeholder = someone that has money on a bet or wager
Shareholder = someone that lives in the community or works for a company, person affected in some way by the local company or business.

The difference maybe one of geography and word usage. Yesterday I found out the USA word "stocks" is known as "share" in Australia.
