I don't believe there are many politicians out there, outside the local levels of government, who feel the need to actually serve their constituency.

Pfo - I do support the President and a majority of our elected leaders...they have a tough job. I just don't believe many of their actions are intended to help those they serve, rather they look to fatten their wallets with whatever special interest groups give them.

ggraves - I agree. There needs to be term limits on all elected offices. As for people who vote straight party tickets...they're hacks who are most likely one issue voters.

More importantly; when are the voters going to wake up to the fact that career politicians do not bring us favors or special considerations. For the most part, they have figured out the system and know how to whip up their constituency while dragging out useless causes.

When I hear some one say they are going to vote Democratic or Republican all the way, it makes me puke. That kind of statement is so stupid, it defies any explanation. Another voting dilemma is selecting a candidate for name recognition, or because they have been there a long time and know how to get things done. Ignorance is bliss.

True, some congressional leaders don't get paid very well and some will claim they are not there for the money so why else would they want to be a candidate. With all the attention they get, I believe that most of them are on an ego trip anyway.

The only way we will ever get to a point where our politicians are working for their constituency is: Make them go away every 2, 4, or 6 years. Let them know this is not a job for wall flowers (Kennedy, Kerry, McCain or Lott). If they do excellent work, lay off the lobbying for pork belly, quit defending a position because it's not what the other party believes and do what's RIGHT, we will give them another term.

Other wise, it will stay the same year after year, war after war!

I believe that more people in this Country have to get involved in the Political process by E-mailing and phone calls and writing letters to their Senators and Congressman in the State and Federal Government!!! Until more citizens get involved in the political process things will not improve for the Citizens of this Country!!The issues and concerns that you care about have to be expressed by each individual to your Representatives!!! Otherwise they will do as they please!! The special interests and the lobbyist will dominate and your wishes and concerns will not be taken into consideration!! We must hold them responsible and accountable for doing whats best for the American people and the Country!!! One person can make a difference, but many people can have a huge impact on improving the Political process and the decisions they make!! Remember there are no leaders without followers!! Begin today and let them know your feelings and concerns about the things that you care about!!!

Perhaps they have forgotten us because we have allowed them to do so. It is necessary to participate in order to be heard; I'm not talking about voting (although that's better than nothing), but about participating in the process - speaking up about who you favor and why, taking part in a campaign for the candidates you feel best represent your views and have shown that they DO want to serve their constituency. Politicians are humans, and have human failings; it is up to us to make sure they understand that they must answer to us, and cannot simply do what is best for themselves.

you're absolutely right. it seems these days they'll do anything to grab power, or make a buck. it doesn't matter if they compromise our national security by looking the other way on illegal immigration, so long as they get the votes of those illegals, is how they look at it. never mind that terrorists could easily, and probably have many times, sneak across the same border, with dirty bombs or any other kind of weapon.

this is why i want to throw all these assholes out. we need new leadership.

Oh absolutley. Too many politicians are more loyal to party then the people. They are more loyal to right and left then right and wrong.

This is because they never entered politics with the intention of serving their countrymen or country

And people who have such intentions do not even consider getting into politics
