My laptop screen was giving me a little trouble recently....Sometimes when I opened it the light on the screen would go black, but if I opened and shut it a couple times it would go back on. Well, now it just stays dark! The only way I can see the screen is is I put a flashlight to the screen to see....It isn't the contrast either! What is wrong? How do I fix this?

It sounds like the connection to the inverter is loose, or possibly the inverter has blown (common). If you feel confident about it, take the laptop apart and check for loose connections. Do this with the laptop turned off and the battery removed, as the inverter uses quite high voltages.

It is more likely that the inverter has blown though. This usually is accompanied by a fairly loud snapping sound. If it has, you can order a replacement and fit it yourself, or send it in for repair.

Check out the hinge area of the laptop, the place where the screen joins the body of the laptop, there should be a tiny switch that gets pressed when you close the lid, which turns the light off.

Try fiddling with that, see if its raised all the way up.
If it is, your backlight might be busted :-/

it sounds like maybe the connection between your cpu and the monitor is busted. that happens if you open and close the lid too many times. that happened to my old laptop, but that was also because it was a compaq and was very very bad quality! you should first take it to a computer repair shop to see if it's true. i'm sure they will look it over for free. generally if it is that kind of problem, then it's best to get a new computer. it costs about the same to fix it, but it's not guaranteed to fix your computer too!

The backlight has gone out, some backlights are replaceable seperately. Others have to be replaced with the LCD screen as an assembly.

On top most keys on your keyboard are few buttons and one of the buttons enable you to toggle between your LCD screen and to projectors. I suspect you have acidentally push the button.
