I am not a big Beckham fan but if you look at the worldcup that just past! who was the player that gave England hope? it was Beckham! he was involved in the goals and set-ups! and then Mclaren drops him when sven goes! I think Beckham should come back because England are so rubbish right now! it could not get much worse! if Beckham can run around on a pitch for 90 minutes and not do much BUT scores that vital freekick or send in that perfect cross, yes, we need that!! if we want results! right now, we have a team that is boring to watch and is brining no results! we need something! its better than nothing :)

He doesn't play, he's not on the bench, he is not in the squad, nor training, hell, he isn't even in the carpark!
That experience, talent and patriotic drive has left the English team. What the hell was McClaren thinking?
I can understand Beckham giving up the captaincy, which must have been hard enough, but to be booted out of the whole England setup is nothing less than an insult, not only to Beckham but to the rest of the team and the fans.
It is no wonder the team is doing so badly at present, what with replacing both manager and captain in quick succession. While I have no disrespect to Terry or McClaren in their respective roles, I cannot help feel that with the loss of Eriksson, the players needed a bit of stability in the side knowing a new manager was on the horizon.
Beckham would have provided that stability, being a solid foundation of the England squad. Even with his captaincy gone, the players would turn to him for guidance purely because of his experience and drive.
I'm sure Terry will do a fine job as captain but it will take a while for the players to get used to him in that role, and similiarly with McClaren as manager.
I'm afraid that without Beckham to provide the stability through this managerial transistion, it will take the players a lot longer to settle: having different leaders both on and off the pitch in such a short space of time can only cause the team disarray.
Message for McClaren: Bring back Beckham and pronto - it is inexcusable to let such a talisman of the England team, someone who can offer so much in experience and guidance, let alone talent, to simply walk away.

Boy oh boy, don't get me started.
McClaren has continued where Sven left off. There was a time when teams playing against England used to know they where in for a hard game, but between them, Sven and his glove puppet have turned England into a laughing stock.
Dropping Beckham from the side was a very brave move, but after seeing Lennon play in a couple of the friendlies leading up to the world cup, i agree that he should have been first choice, (thats coming from a gooner) But to drop Beckham from the team was an idiotic move. Beckham should be in the squad, no doubt about it, but i do not think he would have started.
As for the rest of the side, well, after Neville's comments after the match, he should never be allowed to play for his country again. His comments where disgraceful, and totally unnacceptable from a senior England player, get him out and give Micah Richards a chance.
Cast your mind back to after the world cup, and the comments made by Barton about Fat frank and the rest of the midfield, he must have been laughng up his sleeve.
I am not a great lover of friendlies, but if you have play them, at least give the fringe players a chance to show what they can do. McClaren has lost Beckham for good, its time for him to be sacked now, cos we wont quilify fot the Europeans if he is still in charge.

Players reputations can make or break a match and anyone who doesn't think a 30+ player can't make it should remember this world cup and a player by the name of Zidane - now i'm not saying that Becks is as good as him, but the ability to bring him on as a super-sub role could be a brilliant piece of tactical skill.
However Beckam is going to play in the US now which means he's basically gone to play league 2 football, so he'll have just not played at a decent enough level. If he'd have stayed at Madrid or come back to the Premiership it could have worked - but i don't think it can now.
However we have other players in that mould - Fat Frank should never be started before Hargreaves or Gerrard, but would be good to come on at say 60 mins. The main issue with Wed was a lack of quality upfront, whilst Rooney and Owen will remain are first choice for quite sometime to come, we need to think of a decent second string. Defoe would be the first name on my list, and Johnson next. Then we could start thinging of Crouch and the likes

Lets face facts my old Spurs mate!
Beckham is not the greatest player in the world - BUT he does have the ability to change a game with one free kick or cross!
Remember the Greece World Cup game a couple of years back - he was the only player on the England team - he was everywhere and fighting hard. Where were the others - lost in space, I think!
McClaren is a joke - the FA have replaced the puppeteer with the puppet - we will get nowhere with McClaren. That is the problem - Luis Philip Scolari must be laughing in his cocoa at this shambles the FA have created!

You know if i was Becks i wouldnt want to ever play for England again! Maclaren made his biggest mistake when he dropped him from the team! He was just tryna prove that he was going to make big changes which would supposedly change our team for the good but obviously not. Yes i agree we need Beckham but there is no chance of him returning!
Looks like we have little hope of qualifying for Euro 08! If we cant win @ home IN A FRIENDLY whos says we will away in an important match!!!!!!!!!

First of all I always ask myself how come a player leading the national team to the world cup gets sucked without a reason?
There is something wrong about McLaren, he fought with beckam when they were both at Man U and he brought that anger in the national team as if the team belings to him now when you look at the results he's delivering you can see he's just hanging himself a rope on the neck.
Beckam has said and said that he is anxious to play again in the national team although resigning from the captaincy.
Thanx!

If you mean getting David Beckham in to replace lumpard then YES, he would be a BIG improvement, at least HE does not trip up when kicking a Football. BUT, you and I know Steve McClaren is not going to drop lumpard, he proved that on Wednesday Night. To all those who say David Beckham is too OLD now,Did you see the free kick he took on Saturday it was sheer magic.

No way!
Get Lennon down that right wing. Beckham is a has been. Midfield should be Downing Gerrard Hargreaves Lennon. The two wide men will actually take defenders on and put in decent crosses & Gerrard can have his freedom as Hargreaves can do all the crap at the back.

I don't believe we really need David Beckham. You saw Shaun Wright Phillips on Wednesday, he was fantastic. Even though thr whole team underachieved he and a handful of others stood out. Aaron Lennon is also playing like he's being doing so for 20 years. So we don't really need a 31 year old who in my opinion, was famous for his wife than his football. He showed that he was no longer up for it in his poor performances along with Michael Owen in Euro 2004.
