..........or is it just a convenient handle. I'm thinkingof the Jade/Shilpa shindig. Was it racist? I don't think so. If Shilpa had been a Scott Jade would have called her Shilpa Haggis rather than popadum. Jade was trying to be insulting but not racist/
What think you?

I've never really thought about it like that before - and I quite agree with you. Of course, the extremists (and we all know who!) are just plain out to cause trouble, but the likes of Jade & Co Ltd wouldn't know where to start along that street. Yes, all she wanted to do was to insult Shilpa, mainly because she suddenly found she wasn't quite "Queen" of the castle despite all her money and (dubious!) weight loss DVDs together with the unearned fame!

It's like that advert for Benidom on ITv saying that German women are fat and they smell, if they had said that Asian women smell then their would be an uproar!
On the news the other day some prisoner said he wouldn't see the f..in Paki Dr and was up in court for it and the judge said he should have just called him a fat b***ard and he would have got away with it?
I am half British half Italian and quite dark when I get a tan and when I was younger I was told to f.. off back home Paki etc on many occasions and I have once experienced it at work when someone was one about Indians/etc coming over here stealing jobs and only shut up when they noticed I had blue eyes (I didn't tell them I wasn't Asian). Now that is real racism not what Jade did!

Although I think racism does exist in the sense that here are people who have a real hatred of all members of a certain race, I definately agree with you that Jade Goody wasnt really trying to be racist. I would call her crude i would call her a bully but not a racist - the whole big brother thing was blown way out of proportion.

Btw, am loving the 'what think you'

Sadly there is racism, it is in everyone one of us, but we must learn to control our tongue and not b hurtful and bitter to another, it is sad that we can not see another beyond the colour of the skin,
so that answers ur question Jade was racist but she didnt realise how such a thing will get her into trouble,
this was mere a playground fight which got out of hand.
Yes it does hurt to be called racist names, and an apology is never enough in these kind of situations,

Ignorance is the first cause of racism. The more ignorant a person the more racist he or she will be. And that is what I believe. Jade is plain and simple ignorant and that is the end of the argument for me.

Yeah it is stupid!
Jade received death threats for her comments!
And I know the cow is sacred in India, and I am not a Hindu!
I work with different nationalities, with differing religious backgrounds, and the amount of racism from them is pathetic, it ONLY counts, when you are white and Christian!
Crazy world!

The Big Brother thing..who knows really. They edit the crap so much, it's hard to tell what really happened. But, your question definitely is strange. Of course, there is a such thing as racism.

I sometimes wonder if all insults people get are down to the type of person they are,no matter what colour or race they are.The same goes for the people giving the insults.

Racism is a word created by people to stir up hatred amongst others.
We are all part of one race...the human race...this is separated into different religions/faiths and ideas.
