put the money back for a vet fund. You'd be really screwed if you dog,cat AND rabbit got sick all at once.
Rats are not easy to take care of, they require large cages (which are usually expensive), should come from a breeder (costing anywhere from 10-30$ each), need special food (either high quality lab blocks from like harlan-tekland or suebee's mix), atleast 2 hrs free time out side of the cage, Same sex cage mates, and their vet bills and be HUGE.

something low maintenace since you already have other animals. i would say a gerbil, bcuz:
-they don't cost much
-low maintenance
-sociable (can put more than 1 in a cage)
-friendly
-produce less waste than hamsters
-life span, 2-4 yrs., so not a big commitment
gerbils are all-around better than hamsters, so if you were debating between those 2, then go with the gerbils!!

I think a rat. They make wonderful pets. But don't go to a pet store. Try a breeder. They are socialized more. And make really good pets.

A hermit crab, they are cheap, super easy to take care of and fun to watch, all in all, a great pet, but you really should decide on your own, your the one who's gonna spend time with it!

Ferrets are neat, and may get along with your cat, but they are also smelly. Birds are messy, loud and can live a long time...some like 30 years. Guinea pigs are pretty neat, but also, can be smelly. I would suggest maybe just getting a new toy for your rabbit and cat.

I would go and check out your local amimal shelter. The one that we have here even has reptiles. That way you can spend your money and save a life all at the same time, and you just can't beat that for a great birthday present
