No one would argue that he is not one of the best ever, but do you think he is still a great coach? Does he make good decisions? Does he even know whats going on anymore?

wow.......nobody wants to elaborate too much? can we get an fsu fan in here to see what they think?

and to the penn state fan......joepa hasnt lost his mind as much as bobby, but who has more wins all time? not by much, but he's got it.....who has produced more NFL talent, Heisman trophy winners, and national titles? you know the answer

wow....dog meat you are simply retarded....Bowden got his reputation before they joined the acc by playing anyone, anywhere, anytime. and as far as NC's, he would have 6 or 7 if they had a kicker in the 80's and 90's, bc they would lose to miami on a field goal. FSU was an all girls school 15 or 20 years before he took over! he made an all girls school national champs! Florida only has 2 NC's, are they a great program? Just because UF and FSU weren't good prior to the 80s doesnt mean they arent great programs. ur right, the acc did used to be lame, but they always played the toughest non-conference schedule as anyone.....in 99 and 2000 we had the #1 strength of schedule!! played in title game both years, won it in 99..........so smoke on some of that son........i will agree he had trouble getting them ready for the big game, as we played in 4 out of 5 NC games and only came out with 1 title

joe pa has how many NCs? 1 i believe....is he considered one of the best? get this stiff out of here......

the reason they are struggling is because he is delusional and has no clue whats going on anymore....he doesnt even coach he just walks up and down the sidelines and makes a decision or 2 per game

but in his prime he was the king of trick plays, recruiting, and just an all around great coach......not to mention he is the winningiest coach ever! He is a student of Bear Bryant and he won more games than him

WOW I HATE EMBARRASSING PEOPLE LIKE THIS....I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT COLLEGE FOOTBALL??

1993, FSU vs. Nebraska
1996, FSU vs Florida (rematch)
1998, FSU vs Tennessee
1999, FSU vs VA Tech
2000, FSU vs Oklahoma

I believe that is 5 and I believe that is 4 out of 5.....why do you think they called it the Bowden Championship Series you tool......because they played in the first 3 BCS title games....you don't even know who played for in the championship games in the 90s and you wanna talk smack? at least go look it up so u dont look like a moron.

you didnt state who like....please say georgia, please...........

1976 is when he started there, so it was 30 years, excuse me....the point is they used to be an all girls school...look it up

and as for USC and notre dame, i never said we produced more nfl talent then them, but no one in recent years has more than FSU,

before they joined a conference they played a schedule like notre dames...everybody! top 5 schedule in 98-2000!

"if FSU was so great, why did they only win 2 NC's"

then you went on to say we have only played in 3, and lost 2 of them.............hahahahahaha, so HOW DO WE HAVE 2 NC'S?????........The five are stated above and we beat VA Tech in 99 and Nebraska in 93 you retard

here is some more info on a program you know nothing about.........

The FSU football team was the most successful team in college football during the 1990s, boasting an 89% winning percentage. FSU also set an NCAA record for most consecutive Top 5 finishes in the AP football poll - receiving placement 14 years in a row, from 1987 to 2000. The Seminoles were the first college football team in history to go wire-to-wire (ranked first place from preseason to postseason) since the AP began releasing preseason rankings in 1936. FSU also owns the record for most consecutive Bowl game victories with 11 between 1985 and 1996.

why would we have the record for most consecutive bowl victories is we only won cake games??

YOU ARE NOT A SPORTS FAN IF YOU DONT HUMBLY ADMIT YOU WERE WRONG.........played in 5 out of 8 years son!

2007-02-09 05:50:36 · update #6

actually i graduated from the university of tennessee punk..........you are the one that is talking like you are 16...did i call you 55 names when i was addressing you? washington has always sucked, so get over it.........i grew up an FSU fan is why i didnt convert to UT

I dont hate UGA, I was just gonna compare them to FSU and point out that Richt came from FSU

they played in 5 national championship games in 8 years, read em wheep......what a terrible argument...the BCS national championship was formed in 98, but there was always a national title game, they just didnt call it that you 40 year old punk

yes the automatic bowl placements would sometimes cause a split, but FSU played in 5 clear cut title games #1 vs. #2....so get over urself....how many does washington have? that is the worst argument ive ever seen..."national championship started in 98"

and dont get me wrong i want bowden to retire, he is totally gone in the head and hasnt coached in 5 years

2007-02-09 06:04:10 · update #7

THE INTENTIONS OF THIS QUESTION WAS TO SEE IF OTHER PEOPLE HATED BOWDEN AS MUCH AS I DO RIGHT NOW AND WANTED HIM TO STEP DOWN.............unfortunately I had to school someone who is probably 20 years older than me about things that happened after he got his first case of arthritis

bottom line........if you watched any football in the 80s you would know that Bowden played everybody...that is what pissed me off the most.......and go check our strength of schedule in 98,99,2000.........one of them we definitely had #1 and the other 2 were right there as well......played the toughest schedule and made to the title game punk

so you might wanna get your facts straight when you come at me.........you may know more about west coast, but you don't wanna see me when it comes to where the real football is played in the south

2007-02-09 06:08:33 · update #8

you started an argument about florida state....i never claimed to know things about college football 50 years ago? did i claim to have studied the overall history of college football? i know from the 90s to the present very well, and you do not.

new paragraphs make it easier to read, insted of just blabbing on and on without a break in the paragraph. IT DOESNT MATTER IF THE NCAA CALLED IT A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. the bowl game would also be advertised as the national championship, and it doesnt matter if if was or not......IT WAS #1 VS. #2 and the national championship of college football. your mother could tell you that....you knew what i meant and said we played in 3 just to set this up

Tennessee went out of the state to play a game twice all season a few years back (at UGA and South Carolina), bc they played at Vandy and played a home game in Nashville against Wyoming.......which is outrageous (to compare to your UGA trivia, which i will admit is crazy and remarkable)

2007-02-09 06:44:30 · update #9

i can admit when im wrong and when someone else has some good info.......i definitely love the 40 year Georgia thing

and I thought you really didn't know that FSU played in 5 title games......you knew this, you just set up a stupid trick question thing

and as far as the kicker thing, i know they would have more titles, because miami and FSU were the 2 best teams so many years and miami went on to win it all after a few of those close games

anyways im done here......the purpose of this question was that I think Bobby is done and needs to step down before he tarnishes all his accomplishments. he's 1 step away from alzheimers......after a game he said "we tried to run the ball....we ran 8 times and it didnt work"...haha, everyone knows you have to stay commited to the run no matter what. im just tired of the same ole thing. hopefully jimbo fisher will change our terrible offense

Being a Gator fan, it's hard to say yes.
So I won't.

Bobby has lost his focus in the past couple years and his style of coaching is not as sharp as it used to be. Young coaches that have a vision about the game have been able to capitalize in recruiting and in winning.

2007-02-09 03:38:25 · answer #1 · answered by Big P 1 · 0 1

ABSOLUTELY a great coach... saying anything else is ridiculous and idiotic.
A. The man can straight recruit... FSU has produced more NFL players in Bobby's term as coach than i can count on your hands my hands my feet and your feet combined.
B. Winning- He has the most wins in NCAA history, how can you argue with that kind of success.
C. He does have the we will play any one anywhere attitude needed to be a great coach.
D. Name one time he has been questioned on doing it the wrong way. He's been known as being nasty to people and in the recruiting process, but he hasn't been known to cheat to get players or to keep them eligible.

Bobby Bowden is a great coach, was a great coach, and will always be a great coach.
JOPA is a great coach as well, Bear Bryant and many others are Known as great coaches, but common dawgmeat1 pull your head out your argument is based on the fact that you hate FSU, which is fine, but it doesn't change the fact that bobby bowden IS a great coach.

No, dont get me incorrect he became an exceptionally good coach yet there are some coaches that were a lot extra effective and performed an significant position interior the developmental years of the game. He turned right into a coach who took an outstanding situation and made it extra effective although the shortcoming of previous years' fulfillment solidified his position as an exceptionally good yet not remarkable coach

Yes he is because he picked uup my cousin Markish Jones. The real reason is cuz FSU has produced legends of the NFL. By who??? Bobby Bowden. Think about it.

He is old and washed up. FSU stole LSU's offensive corordinator Jimbo Fisher to cover Bobby Bowden's many mistakes.

i STRONGLY disagree. i would ABSOLUTELY argue that he is NOT one of the best coaches ever. Bobby Bowden got his reputation from beating up a weak conference. FSU won 42 conference games in a row, mostly all blowouts. FSU got to play 9 cupcakes a year, then if they just split the Miami and Florida games ..... they were 10 -1. if FSU was so great, why did they only win 2 NC's? the only reason it appears as if Bowden has lost it is because now FSU plays in a real conference and is being exposed for what they truly are. a good football program, not a great one. Bobby Bowden should not be mentioned in a top 10 coaches of all time conversation.

LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!! Florida State was an all girls school 15 - 20 years before Bowden came to town??????? LMFAO!!!!!!!!!! FSU started playing college football in 1947, genius. HARDLY 15-20 years. as for FSU playing in 5 national championship games, LMFAO!!!!!!!!!! name them, this should be entertaining. FSU has played in three, and lost two of them. you are nothing more than an FSU homer, and homers have no business making unbiased claims. FSU would have 6 or 7 more NC's if they had a kicker ? LMFAO!!!!!!!!!! first off, having a kicker that can make kicks is a part of a football team, and if your kicker sucks ..... your TEAM isnt great. secondly, you cant assume FSU wouldve won the NC in the years their kicker failed against Miami. nobody gave Ohio St a chance of beating Miami, USC a chance of beating Oklahoma, Oklahoma a chance of beating FSU, Florida a chance of beating Ohio St ..... need i continue?????? the years before FSU joined the ACC ..... they STILL played about 8 to 9 cupcakes a year. so spare me your HOMER opinions, im not impressed.

ps - the kicker excuse works both ways .... FSU won a NC because Nebraskas kicker missed a kick. STFU homer, the corn in my crap knows more about college football than you.

kc ..... name one time Bowden has been accused of doing something the wrong way ? how about bringing criminals to campus because they can play football, then not require them to go to class (ie-Dieon Sanders). how many times has an FSU player been arrested under Bowdens term? Bowdens graduation rate is amung the WORST of active coaches. finally, as far as Seminoles in the NFL ....... FSU pales in comparison to USC players in the NFL during the time that Bowden was coaching, and USC has had GARBAGE coaches with the exception of Robinson and Carroll during that time. getting to the NFL doesnt mean squat, check out the unversities attended by players in the NFL Hall of Fame ..... USC and Notre Dame DOMINATE.

who do i like ????? how old are you ? 16 ???? or did you never go to college? i ATTENDED the University of Washington, and im also well aware we suck balls right now .... so save your time from telling me something i already know. but since you hate UGA, allow me to offer you another piece of great smack to throw in UGA fans face. UGA has not boarded a plane in FORTY YEARS to play an out of conference football game. they have played exactly 2 teams out of conference away from Athens, Georgia Tech ..... which they take a short bus ride to, and Clemson ...... which they take a short bus ride to. if you live in FL, i dont have to tell you how close Clemson, Athens and Atlanta are. 40 years, and they basically havent left Georgia for an out of conference football game. sadly that streak will end soon, i think they play at both Colorado and Arizona St in the upcoming years .... but its good smack for now.

NOW ..... back to your homer glasses. there was no such thing as a national championship game in division 1A college football until 1998. there were bowl games when it was obvious the winner would win the national championship, media outlets might of advertised it as a national championship game ..... but it was NOT sanctioned by the NCAA as the national championship game, and considering it IS their league ..... they are right. so FSU has played in THREE national championship games (and lost two) ....... exactly as i said. finally ...... as for your "look it up" quote when telling me FSU used to be an all girls school. LMFAO. really? WOW!!!!! i didnt know that. rather, i knew that before you were even BORN. did you know UCLA used to be an all girls school as well? ill bet you didnt, you only know about FSU ..... and even that knowledge is marginal at best. where do you think the powder blue in UCLA's uniforms come from ????? an all girls school.

kiddo ..... as stated before .... the corn in my crap knows more about college football than you ... you better have your facts straight when you come at me.

i got lost halfway through your response. there were so many new paragraphs it was not an easy read. but let me try and respond to what stood out. Washington has one national championship, one less than FSU ...... do you have a point? as for Washington has always sucked ..... well ....... facts say youre wrong. in 2004, Washington had their first losing season in 27 years ...... a streak that was LONGER than Florida States streak when it was broken. nothing says losers like not having a losing season for 27 years. LMAO, lordy!!!!!! next ...... you say national championship games existed before 1998, the NCAA says they didnt. you are some schmuck who has absolutely nothing to do with college athletics .... the NCAA is the governing body which operates all of college athletics. they are right, you are wrong ..... end of debate on that issue. lastly ..... i only know west coast college football ? oh really? haha. how did i know that UGA hasnt left Georgia in forty years for an out of conference football game? they certainly havent been on the west coast for me to get a look at 'em. how do i know the SEC has 6 teams that havent finished a season ranked in the top ten for at least 20 years ...... Vanderbilt and South Carolina never, MSU 1940, Ole Miss 1961, Kentucky 1977 and Arkansas 1982. in fact ...... just to prove to you i know football on the east coast .... ill ask you a question that ive known the answer to for over 30 years ........... name the team that went undefeated through the season shutting out every one of its opponents along the way, then lost 14-0 in their bowl game. ill bet you dont know. when Clemson played Cal in the 1992 Citrus Bowl, Clemson wore blue uniform jerseys. i could go on, but i cant wait to see you not answer my one question.
