Basic brushes to use: Dandy Brush: this is a hard bristled brush used for removing loose hair, dried mud, stubborn stains etc. Should not be used on the face or sensitive areas Body Brush: Softer bristled brush usually with a strap to slip your hand through for better grip. This is used all over the horse to remove grease, dust, loose hair and to promote good circulation. Can be used on the face and sensitive areas. Rubber Curry Comb: This is a black round shaped rubber brush with no bristles. It is used in circular motions over the body to remove loose hair and dried mud stains. Should not be used on the face or sensitive areas Metal Curry Comb: This is not a brush and should NOT be used on the horse. It has a metal, sharp head and wooden/plastic handle. The body brush is run along the metal grooves to remove excess hair and dust from it. It is simply a cleaning tool for the body brush. Mane/Tail Comb: Usually a small plastic comb used to untangle the main and tail. Can be combined with mane/tail spray which untangles the mane and tail for you so you are not dragging your comb through it and breaking all the hair. I find a normal hairbrush that we use is best for combing through manes and tails. These are the vey basics you will need for grooming but,as explained above, there are plenty more that can be used
