Depends of the color and thickness of the shirt. With light and thin dress shirts, Most defiantly yes. No one, and mean no one, wants to see your hairy chest or back in public. Dark shirts and really thick ones, maybe. Best bet is go in the bath room and turn on the light. Look at your self in the mirror. See and dark patchs? Go put one on.

I think its really sexy when my guy wears a crisp clean button-up without a shirt underneath...say, if we are going out.

Now obviously for work you should wear something underneath and also if you have a hairy chest. I think only guys with smooth chests should even THINK about going "under shirtless."
