I had the same problem I don't really learn unless I write it down for some reason it sticks in your head more but it is so tedious you should try and just find the main points and what may be on your test. Another fast way if you need to write everything is use a computer I find that writing things down are much faster and I get things done easier plus you can print it off at home or school and there you have notes. Not sure what else you could do being that is how you learn the best

I have the perfect solution, since you don't have the photographic memory, and your learning style is unique but very common. First off buy yourself a digital mini recorder, that way you don't have to write so much, and you can review things by hearing. I have one and i take it with me everywhere! Never know when you're gonna need to prove something someone said..lol

Second, since your memory of things you've heard is not so good. Trying some supplements to help boost it up. It won't be a total miracle but it sparks your memory a little. Natural supplements like ginkoba, and anything that helps with memory, and mental alertness is good. Ask your local pharmacist what he would recommend.

Also, try these breathing exercise every morning and every time your going into a classroom to boost that oxygen in your brain that helps keep you mentally alert. Breath in profoundly, and slowly release, at the least 3 times. Maybe try this exercise at home, with meditation. I read that that is a new technique that is used on patients with Alzheimer's disease.

Story or Picture association i.e.

On my way to the shop i saw someone dressed in an egg costume juggling an orange milk & bread, on the way home i saw a cabbage roll across the road and get squashed

This reminds me to go to the shop and buy eggs, oranges, milk & bread and on the way home to stop and buy a cabbage

Or try a dictaphone

Well i dont know your writting style but try writing notes rather than long sentances.
or maybe learn shorthand. thats a much shorter way to write.

If your looking to not write thigns down at all then you'll need to research better memory technics. you can teach your self to remember.

In my opinion being able to remember short terms things is more of a skill than just something we're just born to do.

I used to highlight my textbooks and reread it til I got it. also, try using 1st letters of what you need to memorize as a reminder. Even if you need to put it to a melody in your head. Like the ABC song.
