I believe that they have a right to verify the reason for his absence from work. I don't think they need a note that says you are able to return to work, nor do I think you should give them any information regarding your condition or treatment. I would ask your doctor to write a note stating that you were hospitalized during the time in question.

I think they have every right to ask for a doctor's note if he mised work for two days.... but seriously what is the big deal if you really were in the hospital and he was with you, its just a matter of showing them some stupid paper to keep the content. I don't think its an invasion of privacy, they just want to know why he asked for permission to miss work, thats all. You have to keep in mind that many people do lie, so it is ok for his job to check if what he said was true or not.

In the states where I have worked, if you take vacation days, you are not required to justify them in any way.
I would be very wary of this situation, as it could be a indication of some unhappiness in his workplace and a prelude to some sort of discipline over the time he needed off from work.
If your husband has a union, that's the surest resource for this question. If he does not, I might suggest looking up labor laws for your particular state to find out if this is something that his employer can legally do.

I cannot see why your husband's employer's would ask for a doctor's slip for YOU unless your husband has been abusing their system for leaves and absences.
If it is a question of your husband losing his job if he doesn't supply the slip, then ask your doctor for a slip stating you were under his care from such and such date to such and such date. There is no need to go into details or to sign a release for any more information than the dates. Your health is none of their business.

they have no rights whatsoever asking for a doctors note for you,the days he was given were vacation days, had they given him time off for himself then yes it would be reasonable to ask him for one,but your hospital and health business is none of their business.they are perhaps just using it as a way of checking it was true why he took the time off.

If he used available vacation time, then no. They dont have a right. Vacation time is for when ever the heck you want, even if you just dont feel like going in. So there is no reason they should need it.

Maybe they will give him the time off with pay.
But they would want more than the persons word if they did that.
A long shot but what the heck.

They can not ask for your medical records they can ask for proof that you were in at the time. It is also not their concern if you can work as long as it does not affect your husbands job.
