No, you're no longer very knowledgeable approximately desktops. ninety 9% of 14 twelve months olds who think of they are truthfully no longer. 400mhz isn't "slower", that is historic. 1066mhz DDR3 is quite low end presently. Ghz on my own is a crappy thank you to degree overall performance, and no person is transport a inventory 3.66ghz quad. Firewire 800 isn't between the quickest. that is slower than USB3, any version of SATA, gigabit ethernet, fiber channel, Ultra160/Ultra320 SCSI...the record is going on. Thunderbolt is 10Gb/sec, no longer 12. VGA isn't universal. that is infrequently ever used on something remotely new. DVI and HDMI are the comparable element minus audio alerts and a different connector. DVI purely is composed of analog output for being adapted to VGA. Your dream computing gadget is ludicrous. you will by no ability use all of those cores with out some insane multimedia, medical computing, etc. Nvidia fanboyism is a pink flag for no longer understanding plenty in any respect. i will take what's ultimate at a undeniable cost factor, no remember if that is AMD or Nvidia, no longer one over the different simply by variety call. From what i've got seen, ninety 9% of Nvidia fanboys understand diddly squat approximately desktops. you have plenty to earnings, yet you're nevertheless youthful. save moving forward, and don't in basic terms muck around with hardware specs. initiate gaining wisdom of programming, and that i do no longer advise HTML, CSS, or Perl.

I would add a sound card, and change the CD/DVD to a CD-RW/DVD +/- RW. You will also need at least a 19 inch monitor, flat panel is your best option. that will add any where from 200 to 400 bucks to the total. You might want to call Dell and see what kind of a deal they can give you. Do not order a computer from the Dell website, you will get a better deal if you call Dell Customer Service.

Yes it is all compatable (though maybe not with Vist, only XP) and yea that is a great game machine but not top of the line. Suggestion from me is to get a better Core 2 Duo now and then upgrade your video card to the 8000 series nVideas when you upgrade to Vista.

just a good option for, you have a total of $850 now total. why not go with an emachine. it comes with a 3.3mhz processor 1 gig of ram dvd burner 160gig IDE HDD (does have 4 sata plug on the board for raiding the drives also)plus a 17 or 19" lcd monitor and media center (the last i seen still).. for $500. it does have on-board graphics. here's what you could do, you could still get the graphics card and the extra gig of ram for less than $850 and later down the road if needed another big HDD.

WARNING!!!

Your motherboard isn't compatible with your CPU. its an older motherboard for the Intel Pentium Processors. You should get one that says its for chipsets 945, 965 or 975. otherwise it won't work with your CPU. trust me. I've had it happen to me.
