What kind of an idiot are you?
Becks may not be up to the standard he once was - but he was easily one of the most talented players of his generation (city fan here so its difficult enough to say that).
As for cant play for toffee did you ever watch him play?
Some of my spanish friends tell me that by an large he is still recognised as a superb player. I expect him to walk every match and it will be easy for him. But for half a million a week i don't think he's ar*ed about the opinion of an pillock like you.
In the 70's when all the old heros were playing they were all past it - and signifacantly older than Becks is now

Of course he is overrated, not to mention a bit past it.
But so what... it'll be entertaining, if nothing else.
No soccer fan in America expects that Beckham's presence here will instantly raise the quality level to that of, say, the Premier League or Serie A.
But hopefully his presence here will open the door to more foreign players coming over.

In the first place, they won't know the difference. Football (soccer ) is not the big sport there. So there is nothing by which to measure his skill.
Secondly, he has been hired, like Gretzky before him in hockey to bring glamour to the sport. He can draw the public to the game. The game will grow from that. It is a marketing ploy!

I think he is an incredible player. I think he will get kick out of a lot of games because he has a very bad temper. he just plays too hard and the American refs whistle for everything. besides I can see him kicking the living s h i t out of his team mate Donovan. I would pay a lot of money to see that.

Too late for them to change their minds now. And I have real Spanish friends, in Madrid and they call him Forest Gump because he only runs in straight lines.
I've seen him play too and agree he was always over-rated. He couldn't dribble, head, tackle, shot from everywhere and dragged the England team down for years. What a tit that guy above is LOL.

Well, I root for DC United, so not that it matters much to me that he's coming over. All I can say is, at least Becks will generate ticket sales, which means more money going toward MLS on a whole.

Probably not care...most Americans don't even watch soccer, unlike the rest of the world, we are stuck in our own little sports like Football (gridiron), Baseball, and Basketball.

YOU ARE RIGHT - HE CAN'T PLAY! Even in America he won't make any difference. Its all about BUSINESS - just imagine how many jerseys, keychains, and posters he is going to sell to the idiots and soccer moms that know nothing about soccer.

he's good! Maybe past his best, maybe not as good as Pele and Moore were, but they went over way past it, he's still got a lot to offer

They're screwed really...Beckham practically owns part of the club. To be honest, I'm glad I'm not seeing his wife's face on magazines as much. It drives me nuts.
