Why were Kamakaze pilots issued helemts? I'm confused.

Good point. Did they wear their seat belts too? How about a pre-flight check of the plane? LMAO Good one.

Pilots use helmets to protect their heads in flight. Helmets are not used to protect the head in a crash. So they were issued helmets to make sure they didn't get knocked out before they crashed.
