I agree with you totally. I am a Christian, I have plenty of friends that are Muslim. I even have a Muslim Godson. What annoys me most about the tension between religions at the moment, is the fact that the majority disharmony is between religions that worship the same god. Islam, Christianity and Judaism all share the same origins. Islam even acknowledges Jesus; who was a Jew, as a holy profit, even if they don't believe he was the son of God. We are supposed to love those around us, not spread hate. I guess that for the moment Muslims are Americas enemy of choice. Therefore they will highlight the actions of the minority extremists. What the world is ignoring, is the fact that there are Christian and Jewish extremists too.

Because they don't want to and they don't have to.
If they moan and burn enough effigies and shout about Christians being racist then it wont be long before Tony B. liar, and his big toss circus he calls a government, bows down to the Muslim outcry makes Islam the only legal faith in the UK, imprisoning all Christians and Catholics and Jews and so forth.
It seems that Muslims have a chip on there shoulder and think that the world owes them,..Why is this?
A couple of saying spring to mind here..
1) Give someone and inch and they'll take a mile..
2) The straw that broke the camels back..????????
Place these where you must.
(PS I'm beyond caring about some one playing the race card on me....i don't care about the colour of someones skin or the religion they follow..but i do care when certain people really take the pi$$ out of a country that has welcomed them with open arms).

Define how one would 'respect' another religion? I had this conversation with someone before. How would a Muslim 'respect' Christianty? And vice versa? How would that manifest itself?
Muslims are not allowed into churches, so they would never dessecrate the house of the Lord. They accept Christianity as a faith but the same does not apply the other way round. If a Muslim were visiting a Christian family and it was prayer time, would the family allow the Muslim to go to perform his/her prayers in private? Does that constitute respect for another religion?
Fundamentally Islam has far more rules than Chrsitianity and most followers adhere to them and that limits what Muslims are able to do (e.g we can't eat with utensils that have touched pork, or drink from a glass that has held alcohol, we can't touch dogs or eat meat that has not been killed the Halal way with a prayer)...these kinds of rules restrict our lives as it's all about self control and preservation. Christians don't have so many rules. That doesn't make it a lesser religion, but it makes Christians more flexible.
On a small scale, inviting a Christian into a Muslim house as a guest is far easier than vice versa. If a Muslim were to enter a Christian house there'd be so many obstacles that would make the Christians uncomfortable. A lot of people have dogs as family pets for example, then would come question after question...have you cooked pork in your house? Do you drink alcohol? How can I wash my bum after using the toilet, you don't have a hosepipe in the loo? Where can I pray? Which way is Mecca from here? Do you wear your shoes in the house? Do you wash your pots under running water? Do you have any idols of Jesus in your house? etc etc
So all the Muslims want is for people to respect the fact they have a lot more restrictions to live by, rules on when to even cut their hair, washing methods, words to be uttered, times to eat, pray and drink...even prayer happens 5 times a day, not just on Sunday morning. There's an awful lot more to understand and to be respected and a lot of people just can't handle that!
I was Catholic and now I'm Muslim. When I return to the UK to visit my family I find it very hard to live by all the rules I'm supposed to. I can understand. But to say that just because a handful of outspoken, agitated and radical Muslims are acting badly, that ALL Muslims are the same is quite the sweeping statement.
Hitler was Christian, does that mean ALL Christians are like he was? Of course not right?
We are taught to live peacefully and spread the word of Islam but no one is forced to convert and certainly we're not taught to kill people who are not Muslim, that's ridiculous!
I wish people would read up on the facts more before accusing EVERY muslim on the planet of being a terrorist and causing riots etc. There are a few who have lost their way, just as there are in ANY religion.
Someone mentioned Buddhists not rioting, you should look at the recent news reports in Nepal mate.......
I live in a country where Buddhism, Islam, Christianity and Hinduism live side by side as the main religions of the country, even though it's an Islamic country. Why can't the whole world just adopt this mentality? Give everyone with beliefs (or none as the case may be) room to be themselves and get on with their lives instead of judging each other so darn harshly!?

Good Qustion ! This is a HUGE issue in Australia, forget the Cronulla Riots etc... It seems that for so long well meaning idiots on either side have been spreading the crap about freedom of expression and the right to burn flags and all that stuff... All it does is throw fuel on the fire ! Muslims dont at all seem a peaceful, tolerant fun loving society. They do seem to be full of hatred and disrespect fot the Christian view, and they bring their hatred with them over here ! Q, Have you EVER heard of rioting from lets say Buddhist - NO right because they don't believe in violence and would never push their crap on us. Muslims do ! Our big concern is that they do cause crap here, they now run for parliament with the aim to abbolish Australias Anti-Terrorism Laws ! Does that NOT say something and hide a hidden Agenda.

I think the problems are deeper than we see. if ur talking abt the muslims here in the uk they do respect none-muslims we have lived in this country for over 40 years peacefully getting on with our lives, contributing in the workforce,
Britain has always had a threat from many countries, when they go into other lands and exploit their way of life,.... ie IRA etc..
many muslims and none muslims feel that Britain n Usa has not done their countries any favours by going into an illegal war........ We can live in peace if we did follow our religions and not these so called powerful men called 'Bush n Blair'

They don’t care. Conservative Christianity and Islam are like step-brothers (both are the evil spawn of Abraham) who hate each other because they are more alike than either wants to admit.
They both worship a brutally judgmental and humanity-hating God. They both employ genocide as recruitment strategies, and they both think it makes sense to spread a spiritual message of love, brotherhood, and enlightenment through rape, torture, and whacking-off people’s heads.
They both hate the west and want to destroy America’s secular government. They believe the only true form of government is a totalitarian theocracy where their religious beliefs and practices dictate public and private life.
The world would be better served if fundamentalists of all faiths were rounded-up, taken to a remote island, and abandoned for all time. It would probably make a great ‘survival island’ reality TV show as well.

Because they don't think of it as a Christian country but as their god's country inhabited by non believers. Many muslims believe that it is their duty to convert other faiths into their own or to kill them if they are disbelievers of Mohammed. They think of any non muslim country as ripe for taking over because in their eyes they are acting for their religeous masters. These muslims have been taught incorrectly on the learnings of Mohammed by power seeking, mind controlling over zealous fanatics who are just trying to become all powerful. ~The real muslim faith teaches tolerance of others and not to take life. Western democracy (generally) allows people to lead their own lives with their own beliefs. If this controlling is allowed to continue, we could end up with dictator type rule which forbids any other individual thought or expression. Look at examples of this removal of freedom. Pol Pot, Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Mugabe, etc. A dangerous world if democratic means are removed. Live and let live.

America's not really a Christian country anymore, but I totally get what you're saying. Being a Christian in this nation or a Muslim, or any other belief system is very difficult these days. We hear all the time how much our world and our own country lack in peace. We are not keeping true faith, we are not following our belief systems. Extremists seem to follow religious figures like cults, they aren't following their belief system.

The radical Muslims know only violence and would like to have Britain as a Muslim state, they do not care how they achieve their goals, or who gets hurt/killed in the process. This may sound racist, it is not, only my opinion on a small minority, but who are protected by the majority of Muslims

The Muslims I've met seem to be very intollerant of view points other than their own. I think it's just the culture. However it still doesn't give them an excuse to act like an asshole, which is how most of them act.
