Fire.

Flint is a useful rock to make fire by hitting them together or better yet by hitting iron with it.

It was also used to make arrow heads, knives, etc.

Because chert and flint are very hard and produce sharp edges when broken or cleaved, they made excellent tools for aboriginal peoples. Obvious use as knives and arrowheads - also cut hair, cut skins, clean fat off skins for preservation, clean fish, cut vegetation or tree saplings for firewood, making tent supports, baskets etc. Also can start fires by making sparks. A very important resource - often traded some distances to areas where no natural chert. Maybe you should try to chip chert and make a tool? You would have more appreciation for primative people's abilities and maybe get extra credit!
