I'm doing research for school, a biology project on the periods of earth. Is the Quaternary Era the same as the Ice Age?

Not exactly, the ice age is part of the quarternary era but the quarternary era extends to present day as well.

No. There were more periods of cold and warmer climate in Quaternary, with expanding and withdrawing glaciers and dramatic changes of fauna and flora in today's temperate zone.
