hi, i'm japanese.
in my company there are many people from all over the world, like Australia, USA, India of course, Korea, England, China...
when we work i don't really care about where they're from only if they get their works done by the time they are supposed to.
i think it's different in your private life.
some people still are not used to seeing non-japanese people on the street, so you might have a hard time at first, especially if you don't speak japanese at all.
but if you try to be nice and to learn the language and culture, you will be accepted. it's the same everywhere.

we know about other cultures because we live with them. Chinese, Indian, African, Polynesia, Russian, Australian, British, I have friends from all over. Japanese people only have Japanese friends, so its hard for them to TRUELY understand another culture, no matter how hard they study it in school. Therefore their view on the world is quite limited.
In regards to us they have curiosity, fear, assumptions, interest, infatuation, every feeling you can get.
Overall, the outside of them shows a very friendly person.
Japanese have many 'masks' or 'layers' and you can only get to the true layer if you are very very close to them, a very close friend. Sometimes it takes months or years, or very special experiences to get to the 'real person'
I knew people from Pakistan and India working in Japan, they had an Indian food place. It may be hard to get any other kind of work, but never say never (^_^)

Well, they treat tourists extremely well, but if you plan on staying long, it could be different. They generally don't like foreigners, but they will be nice to you. They kinda have an 'Us and Them' thing. Japan and the rest of the world. They will probably never be mean or impolite, but you will always be an outsider to them. The longer you stay there, the more you will be accepted. But if you plan on going, LEARN THE LANGUAGE!

They treat you as you act ~~ Treat them with respect and you receive the same and more! Be rude and they will shun you !! The language is easy , it's the the grammer that is hard !! Learn one word a day or phrase, learn it well and doors will open!Very kind and helpfull people with kind hearts and smart. Very Beautiful women and respectfull!!!

They treat tourists very well -- at least caucasians. I have seen Indian people ignored a great deal, because they don't like them much.

Sorry...

My bestfriend's boyfriend's co-worker is from India. He told me that he is the only person who can communicate with this indian guy...since he is the only person who speaks both English and Japanese in the office.
