im visiting a friend at the weekend who lives in kent. im traveling by train. i have to go to paddington, then get the underground to london charring cross to pick up another train to kent.

is there a any way that i can avoid he underground?

You can take the 15 or 23 bus from Paddington to Trafalgar Square, about a block from Charring Cross.

try using the bus from paddington to charring cross or if you can get to london bridge even better as there are more trains to kent from there than charing x

Bus, taxi or walk. All possible, although the underground is probably the fastest and safest.
