--if you DO have a child support order, then just call your case worker and ask for a child support enforcement hearing. they handle and take care all of the legal stuff. you dont have to show up, but i would, because if you are not there, you cant dispute any lies he may decide to tell the court.

--if you DONT have a child support court order, you need to get one. just call the county court clerks office and get the number of the child support office from them. call CS and ask how to get the ball rolling (a court order for child support) in your area. they will walk you through it, so no worries.

despite what you may have heard from some whining fathers, the court and laws are NOT all about the mothers rights... they are all about the childs rights. all laws are to protect them and their best interest.

--if you ALREADY HAVE AN ORDER and the Child Support caseworker or dept isnt on the ball, you need to write a letter.

write one letter; include your contact info, your case number, arrears amount, his info and the problem. ask them what they are doing about it.

then send that ONE letter to the following:
1) your states Attorney General
2) your states Governor
3) the Regional FEDERAL Child Support Office (link is below, just find yours)
4) your caseworker

FAX this letter to all of them. phone calls are ignored, denied and forgotten. Mailing ends up in 'to do' piles. FAXs, i have found are very effective. its proof you sent it and proof they recieved it. it adds some heat to the case, as well as lets your child support dept know that you know how to pull rank (so they are more on the ball).

if you hear nothing, fax it again... to all of them. fax it once a week if need be. the squeaky wheel gets the oil, if ya know what i mean and they will want to just shut you up. LOL

most state websites have the fax numbers on them; but if you can only find the phone numbers, just call and ask for the fax number.

some links to help a parent: one is a child support calculator; just click on your state and fill it in. this will give you a general idea what will be paid. the rest you will need to click on your state and find the section/subject you need.

the rest are to help you...

Department of Human Services, Child Support Enforcement Division. Go to DHS.gov and go from there. It's free, just fill out the application and they do all the work for you. At least this is what I did. Assuming he has a job, they will garnish his check for you and you will start receiving child support alloted in payments by how he gets paid, such as every two weeks. Good Luck!

Absolutely! Go to friend of the court, and ask for a hearing. I'm shocked that there isn't already an order for child support, but friend of the court will get the ball rolling, and you won't need an attorney. They'll petition the court for you, and get the child support started. Once started, they'll keep track of all payments, and if he isn't paying, can get a court order to have it deducted from his paychecks automatically. Good luck!

YES! I just did this. What you need to do is contact your local child support agency and ask for them to revise your child support, they do a report on it and bring payments up to date. I got quite an increase, he was one of the very few left that was paying a ridiculous amount. Just let your caseworker know that you need an increase and they do it all, you'll have to provide proof of income and so will he. I wish you luck hon. It could take alittle while but it will work out in the end.

I don't know about different states, but in PA, you would go to your county's domestic relations center. You should definitely not have to pay a lawyer to get support. Good luck!

Dear hopeful, it all depends how much he cares his child..but generally it is observed that this sort of cases can only be solved in the court of law..do not live any stone unturned even if you have to beg, borrow or steal..
