I think Crystal has a major crush on your other friend Ashley, and sees you as a competitor when you're all together. It is also possible that Crystal has some emotional/psychological problems and feels an inferiority complex and tries to make herself feel better by putting you down, making fun of you etc. You should let her read my answer - sometimes it's all it takes.

If you are not interested in your third friend (Ashley) romantically, and just value Ashley as a friend, then maybe you should make it clear to Crystal so that she can stop competing with you for Ashley's attention. Sometimes lots of misunderstandings happen, which are not based on real facts, but simply on someone's feelings. Very often people get it completely wrong if they let their feelings rule their head/behaviour. Good luck!

To tell you the truth there is only one way of finding out why she is acting like this and that is to sit down and ask her.

If you find that to hard to do, then try writing her a letter explaining how your feeling and how the way she is acting is effecting you.

The one thing I can say is that no matter what anyone else says or does we are self ultimately choose the way we are going to react to it. Weather we are going to let it effect us or not.

I know that is easier said than done but it does work when you look at it that way.

As I said before it could be a number of reasons that she is acting like this and you will never know until you talk to her about it.

If she is as good of a friend as you say she is, then be open with her.

Good luck!!!

Because she cares more about what Ashley thinks or she is intimidated by her or you are the nicer friend. She will risk upsetting you to impress Ashley as she knows you are understanding whereas it would not work the other way round.

Maybe she is jealous of your friendship with Ashley. She feels like she has to act like that, for what reason I don't know.

Unfortunately it seems your friend is only a circumstantial friend. She wants to be friends with you, but at the same time doesn't want to sacrifice her other friendships with people who might not like you. I am sorry your friend is acting this way.

For whatever reason, she wants the other friend to see that she's treating you poorly. Why that is I don't know. Maybe ask the other friend if she noticed the other ones behavior. How old is your group of friends?
