Congratulations on this realization. I don't vote -- any more. The reason I don't is because of the Supreme Court Justices. I'm not sure why you are feeling the way you do, but I congratulate you nonetheless.

Be glad we're not like Australia because there voting is compulsory and if you don't vote you have to pay a fine. By the way, voting is important. Who says that you only have to vote for Congressional and federal elections when you can vote for local elections only? I don't like the system either but instead of ignoring people who want a change in our elections, we need to unite and give all the voters a real voice. Yes, it seems to good to be true but you can't expect our elections to change over night. What we need to do is help non-profit organizations like Fair Vote and give them our ideas. I've been giving them many ideas to help with our elections. But people need to stop being so damned negative and instead step up to the problem. Why do all our voters have a choice when it comes to cars, supermarkets, etc. but not when we have elections? We must bust the duopoly wide open and it can be done. Instead of their crappy smear attacks, third parties and independents should have creative ads. I voted for a couple of 3rd party candidates last year. I want a change, we all want a change! Voting should be important to all of us but with a system that works! Now, the only other option you have is to write in a name but in a real democracy you have many choices. Limit money in politics and write against unfair ballot access laws (with most of them very unconstitutional) and gerrymandering. Tell people that minorities and women are very under-represented and they only have a block of a few districts instead of a more representative block throughout the country. Thanks!

Voting is a right given to the citizens of a nation where democratic form of Government exists, by the constitution of the nation concerned. Every citizen who has the right to vote should vote to sustain good governance of the nation by the elected representatives. We must let them know what we consider as good governance by exercising our constitutional right. If less than 50% of the voters exercise their right to vote and elect one representative from a field of 5, by a hypothetical margin of one vote, the decision to elect that person as the leader could have been taken by just about 10% of the eligible voters. Please see the illustration below to appreciate the above statement.
Winning margin : 00001
Total voters : 20002
Number of voters who voted : 10001
Number of candidates : 05
Votes polled in favor of
loosers (2000*4) : 8000
Votes polled by winner : 2001
That means, a minuscule minority of 2001 decided the leader for 20002 voters, though 8000 voters did not consider him good enough to lead them.
Do you want to surrender to the deciding power of the minority?

Your pathetic. In some countries your killed if you vote "wrong" or even if you try to vote. And here comes you, whining about why we shouldn't vote. Well I'm so sorry that voting might take some effort and thinking on your part.

Every one vote counts. One vote becomes ten, ten becomes one hundred, then a thousand, and before you know it, the entire nation has voted. That's the beauty of it, if you vote, there is a 50% chance you won't win, but if you don't, there's a 100% chance you won't win. You can't win a game you don't play.

Oh so you don't vote, then I don't see that you have a right to whine and moan about anything regarding the issues of the day.

Anyone who "doesn't see why" should stay home and leave the decisions to those who know why they're voting..

Elections are the way we express ourselves to our leaders on their past performances and their views on the current issues and his or her vision for the future.
