Depending on how much of your goitre is removed and if your thyroid still works after is what affects you afterwards. If it still works ok, and often it does, there will be no affects at all. If it doesn't work, you'll have to take thyroxin daily for the rest of your life. This will have no affect on mood swings or 'manopause', unless you have mood swings at the moment due to the goitre, in which case they'll disappear once the correct thyroxin dose is established.

It will not effect you going through menopause at all because its your thyroid gland they will be removing, not your ovaries. You may have mood swings at first until you get adjusted to the hormones that you will be placed on.

After removing the goiter, you will become hypothyroid. You will be placed on hormones and tested regularly to adjust the dosage. If you are on the corrrect dosage and the correct medication for you, you shouldn't have that many hypothyroid symptoms.

Below is a thyroid link. Read up on it. It's the only way to get the best care.
