what do you mean? Do you mean the most spoken international language in the states? If that's what you mean, it already is the second most spoken language in the states.

No I don't believe it will be the international language but I believe English will be a primary language within 50 years. In America it will probably be more "acceptable" for people to learn Spanish though (like a 2nd language) I'm having to take 4 years of Spanish right now just to get my Bachelor's Degree!

That is a very good question!
I think in the United States anyone who does not learn Spanish and English will be at a disadvantage.
However, the reason that I believe English will remain the international language is:
1. They speak English in India (and many American and European white-collar jobs are being out-sourced to that country because they speak English). Population: 1.1 billion people
2. There are an estimated 200 million students in mainland China enrolled in English classes---that is mainland China alone. Population: 1.3 billion
3. English is the language of choice in Africa, Population: current population estimate of 752 million.
Population in the United States: 300 million. Many in other countries look at this as a few people occupying a large amount of land. Therefore, unless something changes, expect more immigration. People do not immigrate here is for jobs alone. The come here because in the United States you do not need to be a citizen to own land/ a home. Blame it on greedy real estate developers. They hire poor immigrants from south of our borders to build expensive homes for immigrants from the East!
