I'm so distraught. My dad popped into my apartment unexpectedly last evening and found some gay magazines scattered about. I had no idea he was even in Milano.

Now he's so angry about my gayness that he's forcing me to change universities.

As punishment he's sending me to a straight school near Cambridge UK.

Oh my god...what will I do there?

I think you need to sit your dad down and have a man-to-man talk. One of the issues you need to discuss is privacy. It sounds as if he doesn't recognize and abide by boundaries (I've had this problem too with my parents who decide to "pop in"). On the issue of changing universities, discuss the with him the negative impact of changing schools...it will interrupt your current studies and make it appear that you're a "school hopper" kind of like a job hopper.

The main issue to discuss, though, is your homosexuality. You are the same person you were before he popped into your apartment. He may not like this, but you need to stand up for yourself. You need to tell him that being in Milan isn't what made you gay and that sending you to the UK isn't going to make you straight.

Big bear hugs to you Matteo...I hope things work out for the best.

i assume you'll be living on campus?
i'm sure you'll find many a man to occupy your time.
university residences are littered with gay / curious guys. especially the ivy league ones...

you'll be fine, think of it as an adventure, a fork in the road. something you weren't expecting, but are going to make the best of anyway...

enjoy ;)

You gotta stand up to Daddy. Unfortunately, that will probably mean losing his financial assistance. So then you have two choices - do what Daddy wants you to do, and live a double life... or... stand up to him and lose your education.
