Please follow the doctors advice. If you feel you are not happy with the present doctor then take the baby to another doctor. The doctor will keep an eye on him by giving you appointments . My grown up sister is anaemic and when her iron is less the doctors gives her iron supplements for a given time then she is okay. If I am right , your doctor will have given you another appointment. Just follow doctors advice. Ask your doctor about iron-fortified milk formula.

Generally at birth the HB is more than 14 gms in healthy baby & it decreases slightly when baby is on breast milk, but 7.7 is low.
This may occuar if there are some antibodies destroying Hb like if ur blood group is Rh negative & baby's positive .
This may also be due to some in borm error of Hb like Thalessemia ( may be minor/major ),get him tested for any hemoglobinopathies.
If baby had jaundice after birth & it was prolong than this may give rise to low Hb.
In any case u should consult a peaditrician immediately & get baby's full Blood work out to find out the cause this is important .

My question is....why is it dropping. The iron is good, but, what's going on? Could there be internal bleeding? .... or...is there a reason why there is not enough Hemoglobin being made? Find out the answers to these questions before making a decision as to how to get it increased.
Just from a grandma.

at a year my daughter had a low hg so she has been on those supplements since sept and we go every month to get it checked. the baby may be animic. it not a huge deal the supplements help build up the supply then they keep them on them for three months so they can build a storage of it. there is nothing that you do wrong, i just try and feed her more iron food such as spinach or beats. which she loves both.it goes up and down depending on wat their diet is so you just need to watch their food. and they can makea change to the babies formula.
