You can't do anything.

She will come to these and many other milestones on her timetable--not yours.

My advice is to cherish this time that you feed her, look into her eyes, give her lots of stimulating talks and strokes.

If you think she has some developmental delay ask your pediatrician.

Good luck, don't be in such a rush!

Theres nothing you can teach them, my son is 8 1/2 months he's been holding his bottle for about 2 1/2 months now, but he's only now starting to tip it to actually get the milk....same with his sippy cup, theres no rush, your baby well do it with time.

I had a terrible time getting DS to take a sippy cup. He didn't like the hard spouts. Finally I found sippies that had a silicone spout similar to what was on his bottle. Once I got him used to those, it was no problem to get him to take a regular sippy.

Also, he didn't like the ones with handles. Try to find one that's shaped as much like her bottle as you can.

I personally think tht is a little too young to expect her to have a sippy cup, but if she won't feed herself, you do it, maybe she likes having that time with her mommy holding her and giving her her bottle.

buy those colorful and attractive sippy cups, with a grippable handle so that she can easily hold it. My little girl also didnt want to take the sippy cup until i got the nice Avent ones..

My children all started holding their own bottles and cups around 10 months and I loved the time before hand feeding them, I also would cherish this time, she is very young yet and theres no rush into her holding a cup it will happen before you know it

I know doctors won't approve of my answer, but I've had the same problem with my grandkids. I put pop diluted down some so that it won't fizz alot, and they learned real quick that what was in that bottle and or sippy cup they wanted to hold on too. Try it, it worked for me.

Why is everyone trying to get their babies to be little adults. Take this time to bond with your baby. You will have plenty of time in the future for them to do things them selves around 1 yr. They are only little for so long, then they become individual teenagers.

If you set the bottle where she can reach it and don't help her? If she gets hungry enough I guarantee she'll hold it herself.

Why do something if someone else eventually does it for you? She's winning the battle of the "who's in charge" with you, better toughen up now, or boy are you screwed later!
