Well my mom always said that. It seems to happen that way sometimes but it's probably just our perception. Bad things happen all the time. You may just pay more attention to 3 of them in succession because you're expecting the three. There may be myriad other little things that you don't pay much attention to & just focus on three because it proves the rule that you're expecting.

I believe this:

Luck, Death, and Accidents DO happen in threes...But they also happen in fours, fives, twos, and ones. And any number you can imagine. We attach the number "3" to it because of: Superstition.

Three is a significant number in many cultures, probably due to the peoples of said cultures finding the significance in plants, animals, patterns in nature, etc. and what may be LOOSELY defined as religion, such as is the case in Wicca (commonly called "witchcraft" by the uninitiated), and established religions such as Christianity (the Trinity, Holy Trinity).

I think, by nature, we humans, although we are in fact governed by chaos (meaning, we have no control over who dies, who gets lucky and wins the lottery, who has an accident and end up on the news, or in the hospital), we still TRY to CONTROL chaos.

But we cannot. So, if we cannot control Chaos (what happens to us or other people) then the next best thing is to put it into terms that WE can understand, for example, a "Rule of Three" if you will.

In other words, if something is very complex but is limited to a finite set of rules, we can handle it. 4 Times 4 is 16. I know that. You know that. Because it is based on rules (Arithmetic).

But: 4 X 4 = 16. So what does "The time when Gerald Ford passes away" equal? Not too long ago. He has already passed, so we have a way of knowing that. We know that Missouri couple won the Lotto not too long ago.
So when will the next celebrity die? I don't know. What does THAT equal? When will someone win a huge amount of money in the lotto again? What does THAT equal?

We don't know the answers to these questions because there is no formula mathematical or otherwise, that will allow us to conclusively determine and answer. The only answer we can logically arrive at is: A question mark.

So, to make death, luck, anything we don't understand EASIER to understand, we assign it a value. In this case, 3. Then, we apply that value and say "Well, James Brown died, Gerald Ford died, who do you think will be next?" And no matter when the next celeb dies, we can say "well, I guess (random celebrity) was the THIRD celeb because IT HAPPENS IN THREES.

But, if another celeb dies the VERY NEXT DAY, then it happened in FOURS, did it not? Do you see the fallacy in the argument that things happen in threes?

Simply put: I believe things happen in threes, fours, fives, twos, and ones. Not JUST threes.

Thanks for making me think though! Awesome Question!
Hope you liked my Answer!

In my experience, death happened in threes...until this year, where it happened in fours. Twice in my life, my family members died in threes. But this year, after my cousin, mother, and grandmother died, I thought this "series" was over...but then my aunt died. I'm sorry to hear about your losses. I have no idea whether there will be a third. I don't think that there's any hard-and-fast rule. Answer your phone, though, eh? Whether you answer it or not, what happens will still happen. Oh, and did I feel relief when the third happened? Sort of, yes. Which made the fourth a bit more surprising.

It depends upon what do u think? remember one thing, there is only 7 ways to think about God
1 yes, it (God) is
2. No.it is not
3. Yes, it is and it is not too.
4. Either it is or it is not
5. Yes, it is but can't explain
6. No, it is not but can't explain
7. and the last answer is Yes and No also, but can't explain

So, tell me where are you now?
Think!

I don't know. Usually two things happen to me and I am left waiting for the third. I think it is just to caution people.

Bored minds contemplating trivial matters?

How about you all find the pattern in the number pie?

Maybe they do for me, but the pattern may not be so prominent as to reveal such a pattern to me without my looking deeper.
