We have a bed which has amazing storage inside, much much more than your standard divan with 4 drawers but you have to lift the mattress to access it, it was specially made for us and sent from India.
Only thing is, it didnt travel well and the condition of the bed is not so good. I havent seen anything remotely like it here in the UK and we really do need something with similar storage as our house has absolutely no storage space.

Anyone got any suggestions?

I was off ill last week and watched 60 Minute Makeover on ITV1 - they used a very similar sounding bed in the makeover they were doing. I'd assume the bed was from a UK provider so you might like to look at the ITV website to see if you can find the details as I think they list details on the website. Good luck.
OK - back for more comments - I was off Monday 5 and Tuesday 6 February - Monday I think in Wales and a women did the house as a surprise for her Mum (women was probably in her 30's or 40's and the Mum early 60s) they did downstairs rooms and the spare bedroom that the women's grandson stayed in - did it striped wallpaper - was blue and had built in wardrobes). Tuesday was a young black girl surprising her Mum who had recently done a degree and graduated - cannot remember where in the country it was - they did two bedrooms - a younger sister and the Mum's - I think it was the Mum's room that had the bed - the room (from memory) was red and gold colours. GOOD LUCK!

Hi JP,

I am sorry to hear about your bed!.

I have never liked beds where you can store your things inside of it in the drawers. I always feel that it makes the bed heavy and can't relax sleeping in it, so I am amazed to hear that there is somone who doesn't mind that.

As for the type of bed you described, perhaps it would be better to get a professional carpenter in and who might be able to fix the problem?. They can usually fix anything and love a challenge!. If the bed is custom made and you spent a fair bit on it, then I would definitely get it repaired and would be worth it. Storing too much in some beds can also cause some damage and why it isn't a great idea to put anything heavy - Just bedding and soft shoes, pillows etc.

Beds are very expensive to buy and I would only recommend buying another one unless this cannot be fixed at all. Try and call a few local carpenters and I am positive that someone can fix the problem without you having to spend too much at all. Or, to buy a bed where there are no drawers like cast Iron beds you find on ebay where there is so much room underneath you can put boxes and boxes of things under those.

If you have too many things you want to get rid of, why not sell them and make some money on ebay?. If these are things you need, then I would find an alternative storage place other than a bed and possibly invest in buying an extra closet or to go to a storage centre?. If you really do have too many things in your home and you don't use half of what you have and don't really have a need for most of it and is just causing clutter, then perhaps a trip to the charity shops to donate your things will at least help you to decrease the volume of this you don't want?

Some places hire out garages where people can store their stuff and some people go to lock-up's and store their belongings until they know what they can do with them. I am from the UK and so only know these things because I have seen advertisements in the yellow pages for storage and lock-up units. It is worth a try if you definitely want to keep what you have until you can sort out your home out.

Hope I have helped a little?. - A good sort out always helps!

US High Schools have shop classes that can sometimes fix things like that. Might have something similar over there.
