Are there any initiatives to end vanity sizing? I'm sick of not having a clue what will fit me when I go clothes shopping. It varies wildly depending on what store I go into. Not only that, even though my body hasn't changed, I seem to get "smaller" every few years.
In sewing, you have standard measurements for sizing. Why can't we have something similar for mass produced clothing?

For sewing measurements, see: http://www.simplicity.com/index.cfm?page=section/fittips/meas_charts/EI_measchar.htm

Yes, I agree, end vanity sizing......in fact stop using numbered sizing altogether and just use measurements instead. Life would be so much easier!

Take care : )

I agree. I recently lost 15 pounds (as of this morning) and my size 13 jeans are so baggy on me. I went to get some new pants at Mandees and I couldn't even get the 13's over my @ss. But when I went to express I was a size 12 jeans, 10 slacks. The person who worked there told me the sizes at Express run small. I said, not as small as Mandees.

In order to do that, women would have to accept the fact that all those who think they are a size 0 are really a 4, and those who think they are an 8 are really a 12.

YOU tell them!

I totally agree with you. But, if you look at various pattern companies, similar to Simplicity (like McCall's, Vogue, etc), you will find variations there, as well.

END VANITY SIZING! It drives me nuts.

I don't care what size I am classified in...it helps me maintain weight.
