Is it normal that at just 27 weeks my nipples are sore and leaking small amounts of milk?

I have looked on different websites and have found many different opinions and was wondering if this is normal and if there is anyone else who has experience of this? I did not produce any milk until after I had had my baby during my first pregnancy, and I'm worried that this may be a sign that my baby could be premature. I have had a complicated pregnancy and I am slightly anemic, have placenta previa and a haematoma.

Thanks for your help in advance!

:-)

Yes, this is perfectly normal and please don't worry. I was exactly the same with my second baby, it didn't happen to me with my first either. According to my midwife, your milk tends to come in quicker with a second baby, even more so if there's not much of a gap between them - mine were born 15 months apart. Your doctor will be happy to advise you of anything that concerns you during your pregnancy and it's far better for you to "bother" them than to be worried about anything. Good luck with your new baby when it comes.

Firstly congratulations for your pregnancy. I think its normal to leak a small amount of milk since your body is going through a tremendous change and is possibly getting ready for baby. Do not have any negative attitude or get worried, just keep yourself busy in decorating your baby nursery. If at all you think its getting out of hand, go to your doctor, thats when you will be rest assured all is fine. He can advise you on what to do other than us. Wish you all the best

It is completely normal for leaking to be happening. Some women leak milk in the first 3 months. But if u are still worried u can have a friendly word with ur health visitor. Congrats and hope everything goes well.

Leaking milk comes to people at different times. I actually leaked milk with this pregnancy before I found out. Seeing the milk is what prompted me to take a pregnancy test. This is my 5th child and I never saw milk until after I delivered also; so that was weird, yet normal. If you have any concerns, talk to your Dr. about it.

its normal. happened to me with all three babies. it scared the life out of me the first time when i was in the bath a week or two later.. approx 29 weeks.... and little fountains of milk started spurting forth! thought i was burst somewhere lol.

but seriously.. u r normal. just ur system doing a final check that things are in order before the birth happens. doesnt mean a prem birth. my 3 lovely girls were all very late arrivals..

good luck with the rest of ur pregnancy and a healthy happy beautiful baby.

xx

It is normal - when I had my first daughter my milk started after her birth but on my second pregnancy it was before I gave birth. I think it is just your body getting ready - my health visitor told me it was completely normal - good luck

The same thing happened to me didn't get it at all with my first one but did with my second - its because your body knows what to do now... its getting prepared. even now with my second baby, im not pregnant and i stopped breastfeeding six months ago, if i squeeze my nipple i will get some milk.... Strange huh.
