Hmm, that's a tough call. I would say no, unless you already hate your job and don't mind being let go.

It doesn't look good for employees to be hired and then ask for certain days off right away. However, only you know how well of a relationship you have with your boss, if any.

Instead of going ahead and asking for the time off, just ask to speak to your boss for a moment in private and tell him/her the facts. Explain how you already booked the trip before being hired and that you don't want to come off as an irresponsible employee and would like to know if it would be a problem to take the time off. Just make sure to reassure your boss that if it's going to be a problem, that you understand and respect that and then ultimately you'll have to make the call yourself... cancel the trip or cancel the job.

One other option to consider when speaking to your boss is to offer to work a certain amount of time extra that you may not have otherwise worked to make up for the loss time. Or, try to work extra hard to make up for time lost before hand. Aside from what I've mentioned, I can't think of any other ways around it.

Remember manners help! Make sure to thank your boss for speaking with you, even if you didn't get the answer you were wanting.

I hope it all works out for you!!

If you had mentioned it at the interview they do honour days already booked - if you have only just booked it you should have thought about work beforehand. They would need to be a very understanding employer to give you the time off. All you can do is ask alternatively phone in sick either way you won't be making a good impression

Yes you should have told your new boss when you got the job, just explain that you had already booked this trip before you got the job.

It sounds like you knew about the trip when you started the job, that was the time to let them know. It will not look good if you don't work as you were hired to do. Explain the delemma to your supervisor and try to read his expression before you decide what to do.

thinking you should have said something when the job was offered....but if its a trip you cant or dont want to cancel then you better come clean ... with lots of apologies and sucking up to the boss. good luck!

Its a hard one....if u had mentioned it at the interview that u would need those days off then no worries ....but it looks kind of bad. Are you casual and can you do extra shifts to make up for it.
