I feel the generation preparing to take responsibility is far more aggressive in terms of living and setting their priorities than the one before it. is it because of the freedom they have been getting or is it just the way we live is too selfish?

I still can't get a handle of the use of the word "freedom" as used here in the USA. While it does exist on paper there are just too many ordinances, nit picky rules, criminal business practices, dishonest people, and and crime that restricts "freedom". I have talked to many young people and these criticisms are related to me. Furthermore, when many foreigners visit here--and I'm not talking here about illegals--they are amazed at just how we are restricted in so many ways. Finally, talk with some of the older generation also. I think their opinion about the "over-restricted" life style will be verified. Try criticizing the "authorities" such as school boards, homeowners associations, bad products and see what happens to you. When it comes to voting: what is the real difference between Reps or Dems? They both play the same power game for themselves, not for the general population. Now is you believe in freedom, you should respect this opinion, right?

they have gotten their own way all the time in the family unit...
so when they hit the real world, they don't understand limits, boundaries or the word no, so they rebel. they change what is in their control to get what they want.

i am very selfish,lazy, and inconsiderate, but i'm also very nice. we are more into our appearnce than ever before, so i think that is why we are so self-centered these days.
