You are looking for a magic cure. If you are using Windows XP, then you should have 512MB or more. Check your system at http://www.coastmemory.com and look up your system. More RAM is a good thing.

You can run LESS to make your computer run better. Stop unneeded startup programs. Clean out your SpyWare. I recommend that you go to http://www.download.com and get AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search & Destory. Install, run, update and scan your computer with both programs.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

When windows xp slows down to a crawl, sometimes the best option rather than adding more software is to make a new clean installation of windows by backing up important data and all installers, formatting the drive, then reinstalling windows. Make sure you only install windows xp components that you need, then install only the main applications you really need (make sure they are for the generation of your hardware and not the latest version which has greater system requirements).

Install also a minimum version of an updated anti-virus software (avoid the whole suite). If you really have to use the internet, firefox browser can help minimize security incursions but unfortunately, you're still pressed to install the latest windows xp security updates. Avoid spam/malware/spyware like a plague.

Cut all the excess software you're tempted to install. Discipline in installing/downloading will keep your pc running the best it could...

hope this helped... :-)

If you are looking to increase your memory without increasing RAM, it can not be done. Memory is hardware. No software is going to increase your RAM hardware.
