I've read quite a few books from Feehan's "Dark" series, and I would definitely recommend these books to anyone. They are very well written and the plots are amazing. There are a few gory parts and some sexual stuff but they rock. If you have read these, keep reading. I would also suggest picking up one of her books from the Ghost-walker series. Very cool books...kinda unique as well.

I see that many ppl have answered that they enjoyed the series, but they're pretty much crap for the most part, and I'll tell you why.
1. The storylines always start out interesting, but the reader loses all sense of interest in the story because of the predictability of the tale.
2. If you've read one, you've read them all. Not only is each story predictable on its own, but put together as a series, you will notice that all the main characers possess all the main traits: posessiveness, serious dominance issues, very mysogynistic, and each and every single one is very brooding.
3. After the first chapter, the story focuses mostly on the romantic aspects and almost completley cuts off any other facets of the novel. Feehan uses dark fantasy and adventure as the foundation for her novels but sacrafices them as the story progresses to focus on foreplay and sex.
4. The relationships between the characters progress too fast. You won't have to turn many pages before they're having sex. So if you like that go for it.
5. The same adjectives are consistently used to describe the characters and if you pay attention to that sort of stuff, the story begins to seem redundant and flat.
6. The characters, for the most part, are flat as well. She tries to make them more interesting by giving them dark pasts, but their futures as illustrated by the books are a mere shadow of what they could be.
These books are, for the most part, crap. And, therefore, the best time to read them is when you're taking a crap. Any other time and you'll probably end up tossing them and grabbing a different book by a different author. Feehan is a pretty trashy paranormal romance writer. Try a more substantial, frutiful read in the paranormal romance genre. Authors like Laurel K. Hamilton, Sherillyn Kenyon, Susan Krinard, and Kate Mcallister (i'm not sure if I spelled that right). All of these authors write vampire romance and do a much better job.

The Dark books are the only Feehan books I've read and I really enjoy them. My favorite one of the series is Dark Desire because I totally fell in love with Jacques in Dark Prince. He's been my favorite character so far. The first time I read through this series I skipped over the trilogy about the band, the Dark Troubadours, because I thought the premise sounded silly. But, when I finally went back and read those books they became my favorites of the whole series besides Dark Desire. I think the whole concept of "lifemates" is very romantic.

I have these books and I love them and reread them quite often.
They give a new mean to to word of ones mate, and forever. The people in the books (race) are called Carpathian's. In her last book she brought all of them together for Chirstmas. She did this so very one could what was happening to everyone. My son also likes these books and and finds the new ones for me.
She also has a series, called ghost-walkers, and a series about the Drake sisters. These both are very good series.

i'm not a fan. i'm a huge fan of paranormal romances, regardless of the reality that, so clearly i tried to envision one among hers. yet I purely couldn't get by skill of it. i don't understand - possibly they were purely too severe or something yet they did not attraction to me. it really is extremely disappointing because she's written distinctive! And solid paranormal sequence are few and far between. yet she purely would not do it for me. As for the overuse of particular words, i'm getting that. Laurell ok. Hamilton does that and that is so previous. extremely of "coming" she makes use of the note "bringing." And the word "purely flat did it for me" has been used better than once. Yawn!
