EVAN pretty much summed this up quite simply. I just couldnt have put it any more clear than that:
"Cheating is a *form* of corruption. Cheating by definition is ignoring established rules of conduct (whether in a poker game or marriage) in order to gain some perceived net benefit (money, power, etc)."
I think we need to think about CORRUPTION as being the root for all ill acts. Murder, adultery, idolatry, coveting, theft, the list goes on an on. Why do we allow ourselves to become corrupt in the first place? Where does corruption begin – and what dictates how one form of corruption is worse than another?
I think that many may withdrawal to their biblical understandings of sin and blame the Devil. Perhaps there is an evil power at work – I as a Christian do believe this is the case. But at the same time, we all have the power of free will. We all have the ability to understand right from wrong.
Overall, regardless of how you look at it – we all are an immoral people and because there is not an overall desire to fix man’s immoral behaviors – we will forever be a corrupt people

In both cases you are living a lie and usually trying to cover your tracks.
The big difference is that with corruption you are usually making some monitory gain. With cheating you are breaking a trust with someone you supposedly love.
With both you are breaking a moral code that should be observed by all people regardless of faith or political affiliation.
Cheating has become almost acceptable in our culture, we still blame the person that cheated if a couple breaks up, but we usually accept the offender back to our group of friends without question. If society will not hold individuals accountable for their actions then it is an acceptable practice. There was a time in this country when someones spouse was caught cheating, then the other party received the lions share in a divorce, but that doesn't even seem to be a consideration anymore.
I have question for you, if a single person is sleeping with a married person, are they both guilty of adultery or just the one that is married?

Hmm, marriage is a contract, so yes cheating on your wife in the Oval Office is a corrupt practice. Not to mention disrespecting the entire country, all those who has sacrificed for it's freedom, and it's history!
