That the Army Corps is just a front for the American taxpayer? They are in effect suing the taxpayers for Katrina. What's wrong with this picture?

What is wrong with the picture is way back in the time of LBJ it was recognised New Orleans would be in big trouble if a Cat 5 storm ever hit just right.

The Army Corps of Engineers submitted a plan to Congress to build a flood wall with gates across the end of Lake Ponchatrain to keep storm surge out.

Congress discussed it at length and agreed to the idea and even allocated funds for the building of the wall in the budget. The President OKed the budget and it looked like a potential disaster might be averted IF the wall was buuilt in time.

Then the environmental movement got envolved. They were worried about some fresh water mussles that bred in Lake Ponchatrain. They raised so much stink the project was delayed time and again then finally scrapped.

The people they should be sueing are the environmentalists for putting mussles first, and Congress for even listening to someone who thought more about mussles than the Crescent City and human beings.

*LOL* One thing is for sure. If you are going to blame Bush and the ACE for what happened when Katrina hit. You got to blame environmentalists and the Democrats who were in control of Congress more.

I mean get real. That was as far back as the 60's government knew there was a problem.

The infrastructure of walls, bridges, tunnels, roads etc are badly in need of repair. The government has diverted these funds for years to make these repairs. It would still be paid for by the taxpayers. The money should go where it belongs. New Orleans was a tragedy, it could have been avoided.

The Army Corps of Engineering to blame ????

BULL CRAP !!!

How about the fact that the Chocolate City was given millions of dolllars to do flood wall work , but instead the Chocolate Mayor diverted the funds and used them else where..

Ah yas.... How soon we just "forget" these little repeated facts..
