It's cos they don't want to put shoes or socks on the sofas. They probably sell those sofas after they've been on the advert, so they want to keep them clean.

When I'm at home I take my shoes off, then my socks when I'm laying around on the sofa, just trying to be true to life I guess?

I dunno, some dim wit probably thought it would give an atmosphere of people looking relaxed on their sofas and make us all wanna rush out and buy one.

They like to make it look more cosy.
Plus who would by a sofa that has dirty shoe prints all over it.

i dont know but have you seen the one of helebeds where that bloke in the sop asks whats the name of this shop and a group of women shout at the top of thier voices helebeds. im not being funny but if they shouted at me like that i would give them a mouthful back

Perhaps to prevent them becoming dirty and scuffed. In our house we really do lounge on our furniture and its certainly more comfortable without shoes.
