High notes are usually my comfort zone, which is not the case for most people. The thing is I can sing low notes in classical, but I can't sing "pop" or R&B type music. I can sing jazz, but not popular music of today....why is this? Can singers sing all type of music?

I have a friend who is just the same. She's classically trained and has a belting soprano voice but it is absolutely toe curling when she sings pop. She hits every note but she over enunciates the words and there is a timbre to her voice which is just wrong for pop music. I dont know if it's because so many singers have 'front of the mouth' or nasal voices but her voice is just too much for these songs.

I'd stick to what you do best! I dont think that if you can sing one style then you can sing them all, it just doesn't seem to work.

No they can't
Everyone has their own pitch and style of music.

However it is usually possible to change the pitch of your voice if you have music lessons.
