Treat people equally. There is a huge financial gap between the classes. You might even say that the Middle Class is disappearing.
In Europe in the 17th and 18th century there was the same sort of class separation. and people left Europe for the chance of equality in the new world.
Now there is no new world. So where do we go?
The "Robber Barons" of the modern age will keep amassing there millions and the working class will continue to be oppressed.
Now I'm not an anarchist but I think some kind of public revolt is inevitable. The CEOs of most major companies make at least a 7 figure income. how does that compare to the 40 y/o waitress who is trying to put a couple of kids through school and give them a better life.
How do you improve law and order in this country?
stop paying $8 million a year to a man that plays a game for a living and start paying that money into our schools and into giving hard working people a honest "living wage".
If the average cost of a home in this country is say $250,000 to $300,000 how can we expect someone to purchase a home without being in debt for the rest of their lives. or at all?
You want a society of law and order. then level the playing field.

Bad Law and Order in any state is a reflection of incompetent governance, and bad laws. The public has lost respect for existing establishment. The next stage is anarchy which is very dangerous. Cures are:-
1. Ensure that we don't have irrational Laws like POTA, MOCA,
TADA etc.
2. Ensure that the judiciary is independent and quick.
3. To make enforcement machinery efficient and independent.
4. Political interference is banned.
A Very tall order. Well what is wrong in dreaming.

1) Learn to abide by law, yourself.
2) Always ensure that all that you do is within the parameters of law.
3) Encourage your children and your dependants to be law abiding.
4) Take a vow not to vote for some elements who have no respect for law.
5) If possible, start a movement for cleansing the political system.

Legalize all drugs. Tax them and sell them over the counter at a price junkies can afford-and give the junkies a nice place to shoot up and die.
Just think how our prisons would empty and how many thugs we could put out of business. Think of how much money could be saved if there was no "war on drugs" (which hasn't worked for 100 years).
Then our overworked and underpaid law enforcment officers could spend their time going after the thiefs, rapists, child molesters, killers and others who are the true danger to our society.

Have a more "just" justice system, and quadruple our crime scene investigators, our detectives, and our police forces. Put more cameras in the cities and buildings so people can't lie about where they were at what time or about what they said. This won't necessarily make people "better people" but it will force them to watch what they are doing and to follow and obey the law.
People can't be responsible or mature about things so "the man" has to do what they have to in order to make people obey the law.

Harsher penalties for crimes. Why do you think no one commits crimes in Singapore? Because they don't want to steal something and get their hand amputated or be the next public display of caning.
Harsher penalties for crimes that are actually followed through on by the government would make people think twice.
Rehabilitation rarely works...it's proven.

Chasin_Jasen's got it right. In countries that do use caning as punishment, crime rates are way lower. Wojo2112, what exactly are you suggesting? Communism or anarchy? Either way, I'm not so sure that's the way to go.

Decriminalize drugs. Allow marijuana under prescription.
No more drug wars; gang members will have to do other things, like focus on getting real jobs and going to school.
Phasing out rap music would be nice, too.
