Music is a form of expression and helps young kids to figure out who they are. Some kids are even relaxed by music...they can turn it on and chill out when their emotions get the best of them. Here's the deal.....nothing is bad in moderation. It is when the kid constantly has the ipod in their ear that there is a problem. Or when they have it in their ear at an inappropriate time (in class). I am a parent and used to be a middle school teacher (for 10 years). Kids were always allowed to listen to their mp3s the last five minutes of class...it was my way of helping them wind down and get ready for the next class and to have a little social time. I loved seeing what kids were listening to and why. Music is a right of passage for a young adult, but there needs to be balance....grades, friends, family, exercise...all those things are important too!

I really believe that all these gadgets are distractions to not only young people but to adults as well.I see adults in my job wearing earphones as they work and I actually have spoken up against it because you isolate yourself from conversing with other people. There is nothing like going to a live concert or gig and seeing the musicians play.I pods Mp3s X box and all the other gadgets are isolating our society.

I am seeing it in the elementary kids, I think we are going to have a generation of 1/2 deaf kids. I am afraid that these kids while driving/ walking, etc. are not going to hear oncoming traffic, or warnings of any sort such as a predator behind them.

they suck!
what happened to tape players!?
or even CD players?!
im 13 and i hate Mp3 players and iPods!
they're worthless!
you buy that $300 toy and after that one year warranty is up you've got no music!
so stick to CDs. they last more than a year!
