I think that it is inevitable that Ricky Ponting will beat the career statistics of both Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara. Ponting has had such a great run of extended form that he has almost reached the 10,000 run mark in both forms of the game, and you would expect him to pass the 10000 mark in ODI's in his next 2 or 3 matches, whilst the 10000 mark in Tests would most likely occur at the end of the next Australian summer.
You would expect Ponting to play on for at least another 5 years or so, and this would give him ample time to reach figures of 50 Test Centuries, 15,000 test runs, perhaps 18,000 ODI runs and 55-60 ODI centuries.

At the rate Ricky's going, I'm sure that he can beat Sachin. Besides, he is only a few hundred runs away from making 10 thousand runs and surely if he makes it even before he gets to 300 matches then surely he will be the fastest ever. And at the rate he is making 100s he surely will be better than Sachin.
