One thing that had remained since the early colonial days is that to excel, you need to have foreigners onboard to have any credence. The attitude that Asian-only management is inferior is still in existence. Hence for many Asian companies who wants to compete in the international market, they have to take on these 'foreigners" toi show that they are internationally ready.
Which is quite sad because these foreign experience somehow do not work in the Asian markets. So some companies had actually learn expensive lessons just by trying to be accepted internationally.
This perception is yet to change. Even when many knows that Asian talents can be much better.

Indeed.
Having worked in Singapore for a number of years it is clear that while the educational system is fairly good there are very few people capable of leadership (in the real sense) or lateral thinking. Its a product of the political system, simple as that.

however, Spore should also protect the rice bowl of their citizens.Professional such as doctors ,engineers,lawyers and other health related profession should go thru more strigent exam to practise in SIngapore.
