No, and if you should send anything but just the completed VAT Return then the extra stuff will just make the VAT people unhappy. Keep it simple. Just give them what they ask for.

Hi No you dont need to send a detailed report with your vat return - just make sure that you complete all the boxes on the Vat return - and if any of them are Nil - then Write in the box NIL - Dont leave it blank.

Only put true figures into a vat report there are penalties for submitting false returns. Make sure that you keep all records detailing how you came to the figures submitted in a vat return and it is always best to keep a copy of the vat return that you are submitting.

Only if a VAT inspection is required would you need to product detailed reports.

Hope this helps

Hi,
I type as one of those unpaid VAT collectors.
"That is X plus the VAT" on my friendly invoices.
However when I send them a list of equipment, tools, transport etc. that I have paid VAT for, with all the receipts, I get a rebate.
(Being VAT registered)
It is all a pain in the whatnot, but if you wish to avoid a detailed conversation with the VATman, I would give them as much info as possible, in an honest fashion.
I'm not sure about my window-cleaner accepting cash, but there you go !
Stick to the rules, furnish as much info, invoices, receipts and stuff as possible, and all is well.
Troublesome, but best to stay on top of it all.
The Taxman will have his due at the end of the day.
Happy VATing !
Bob.

No - just fill in the boxes on the VAT100 form and send it off (with the money!). Alternatively fill it in online.

You will, of course, need to keep detailed records in case you get a VAT inspection, in which case you will need to justify all the entries on your VAT100's.
