How does the desire of American citizens to acquire/spend affect the culture of other countries ?

In many ways... Americans are consumers... this means the consume. There are many countries who have become dependant on the American culture and appetite. China has reported economic growth of enormity and the vast majority of their domestic products get exported to the united states.

However, there are some downfalls to this glorious picture I'm painting. For example, the demand for more products and lower prices has resulted in some countries developing a work force of slavery such as South Africa. Or in some countries, the women and children work horridly long hours for pennys, just to feed their families.
