If I wanted to go there to lounge around on beaches -- when would and wouldn't be good times of year for that? How much does it differ from area to area?

(We have family there, and I'm thinking of throwing out the idea of a trip.)

You can almost file this under the same category as the Americans asking in the Canada section how they can book a room in an igloo, yes...

During this time of year... the northern beaches are still a little bit chilly..... you'd have to travel further south, I think. (My mom always says "South of the Ocachobee") - like Miami, Fort Lauderdale, or Naples..

In the summer.. Florida is HOT everywhere.. maybe too hot? but it would be great for beaching....

In the fall, you'd have to be careful of the hurricane season. That usually runs betwee July and November... It'd be pretty nice to go, as long as you watched the weather, and stayed away from the dangerous areas..

I'm jealous.. I hope you have a great time!

It depends on what sort of weather you are used to. If you live in cold climate, just about any time is good for going to the beach in Florida (although it does get chilly sometimes the further north you go in Florida). The locals there would never dream of going to the beach in the winter, which I find hilarious (being from New England). So the beaches are less crowded now than they will be in the summer.
