if for EXAMPLE i get pregnant and the doctor says that there is over 98 percent chance that I and my baby will DIE due to health complications,
and my doc gives me an option for abortion...........why would it be your business what i do. if i die during the childbirth will you PERSONALLY take care and support my baby?
who are YOU to judge me and my life and look through my medical records and history? would you want ME or any other stranger to look through YOUR medical records and dictate what you should or shouldnt in times of crisis?
don't you think i as a woman am capable enough to make my own decisions regarding this matter?
abortion is a medical issue between ME and my doctor... who are you

You are describing a scenario that is true for abortion cases only 0.000000001% of the time. Most people that have abortions (note it is plural, since the same people are having multiple abortions) are using it as a substitute for birth control pills.

How often are doctors 98% sure of anything? If the baby has any good chance of surviving, it should have just as much right to live as you do. Adoption is always an option, and if there isn't any other alternative, there are places that would take in unwanted children. Don't feed me crap about kids growing up without parents. I've NEVER seen an orphan who would've been better off dead. Also, since when is it the mother's business whether or not she kills her kid?

I have stated many times that while I do not condone abortion I would support any bill that bans it but makes an exception for rape, incest and endangerment such as the situation as you described. Most anti-abortionists feel this way. Of course the three reasons mentioned are the basis for 3% of the abortions in this country, its the 97% that are done because someone was careless that we would like to see done away with.

First of all I don't think the government should be involved. They have far too much involvement in our lives as it is.

I am alive today because people in the 1950's didn't have the easy way out. Granted my parents planned my older brother's pregnancy, but my paternal Grandfather and Maternal Grandmother wanted my 16 year old mother to have an abortion. Way back then. My paternal grandmother who has an abortion back in the 30's said no way are you going to put her through that. I was born a year after my older brother but had she had an abortion my parents would have never married and I nor my other three siblings wouldn't have been born either.

If that was just the only reason why women get abortions, most people will understand that aspect.However.,you have to agree there are too many abortions being performed because the pregnancy is an inconvience. Most people feel that is where it is wrong..,not just jesus freaks believe that way.If women dont want to get pregnant then use other means of preventing it and be responsible for your own actions.

Btw,I dont by the rape bull..,after a woman is raped there is a procedure called a DNC which scrapes the uterus. That is a poor excuse for an abortion,

The scenario you describe is very rare, despite what abortion supporters want you to believe. But for all intents and purposes, let's say it is an actual case. If so, why can't the procedure be performed in a hospital by your doctor? (answer: IT CAN). Why do we need abortion clinics that are taxpayer funded, and used predominately for birth control? I am not against what you described, I am against abortion-on-demand. If my tax dollars are earmarked for it, then it IS my business and I can use my power as a voter to try to bring change. PS--in case you are wondering, I am female.

*** Pretender...interesting name. I don't need organised religion to be spiritual or to be a good person. Religion has corrupted your judgement...oh wait i thought you weren't suppose to judge! Isn't that God's job? Maybe you should be the one who's worried?***

I agree totally....in fact i've been there!

I got pregnant at 19 (i was married) but on Christmas found out that my baby (Olivia) had several birth defects incompatible with life. I was devastated. The doctors gave me two choices...
1. Stop her heart painlessly and deliver a still born
2. Continue with the pregnancy to only have her die during child birth very painfully.

To me the answer was simple. I wasn't going to make my precious little girl suffer. I opted for the human and pain free method.

Problem was that this decision caused us (my husband & I) to be completely outcasted from our church (his uncle was the head minister) to which we were devote followers. They branded us as Abortionists. We were betrayed at our hour of need.

I knew that i had done the right thing by letting her go. What kind of mother would i be to make her suffer just to save face with them?

Eventually i had enough of the whispers and name calling and told them all that "Any God that wants me to torture my child to make you feel better is no God of mine!"

I haven't been back to church since (10 years ago).

Although I am against abortion, your scenario is the exception and not the rule. I agree with you.

I also think that it is none of the Federal Government's business whether you have an abortion or not.

That is a moral choice and not one the Government has any business making.

if you ask a question on here it becomes anyone who answers business.there are legitmate reasons for abortion and then there is just plain irresponsibility which amounts to murder.and no one is judging you or anyone else who has an abortion, you are your own judge.and your right it's between you and your doctor, the unborn child that you murder has no say.theres no excuse in this day and age for abortion due to irresponsibility.

abortion is a murder issue, no if's, and's, or but's. It's funny how people always say "keep your laws off my body." The fact is, it isn't your body. Everybody talks about this being a woman's right... By their nature, "rights" do not affect another person at all. You have the right to free speech, but you do not have the right to make people listen. You have the right to choose your religion, but you don't have the right to go to a Catholic church and demand that they teach you about Buddism.

By definition, because abortion affects another human being, it is not a "right," nor do I care if you and your baby are going to die, that's not my problem.

okay. for all the idiots answering back saying it's not a lady's right or any of that ****, it doesn't matter if you support it, or if you don't.
IT ALL COMES DOWN TO PERSONAL CHOICES. you can't make choices for other people. everyone is entitled to making their own decisions and they're not always going to be right but it doesn't matter.
