Katie, deal with the immediate problem first as you will get yourself into a mess unless you can pay your bills - so take whatever you can for the short term.
Next, think about what you would really like to do in the line of work and then create a strategy for achieving it. If it means having to go for some training - you may need to get those debts cleared fist - otherwise start writing letters and sending out application forms and chatting with people in the know. Sometimes it is not about what you know but who you know (sadly).

firstly sign on to get any benefits that you are entitled to, then check out any temping agencies that apply to your skills or needs, they will need you to register and maybe take a small test to show the level of your abilities, they will then find you either a temporary job or permanent which ever you ask them to do.
While doing this look at the job centre site on the Internet to see what jobs are going, also don't forget to look on individual sites for companies as this is where some of them advertise their vacancies you do not say why you are loosing you day job,do they need to compensate you (ie redundancy) worth looking in to. Good Luck

Look for another day job and bite the bullet. You have bills to pay and it is necessary to work. I mean, what choice do you have, other than get another job. That is what I would do. I would work as many hours and two jobs to keep bills paid.

Look for another job that you can make more at by working only at one job. Instead of having to work two jobs.

Look for a new job will you not be entitled to a redundancy payment from your day job depending on how long you've been there.
Talk to your bank and see if they can consolidate your debts into one payment .
Cut back on your expenses, going to cheaper shops for awhile you might get a reduction on your council tax and if you rent from the council you should get a reduction on that.

Try temping for a while. It'll give you a bit of time to think your options though. You don't need any special skill. The most important thing is to be reliable and persistant.

Try the job center - they are a lot better than they used to be, and generaly quite nice people eager to help - providing you smile and are polite.(they usually only get abuse)

It shows that you lack sleep. Quit the day job and look for a new one. Take a nap first..to recharge your head.
