I am on ortho cyclen and I am supposed to get my period right before Valentine's Day. I am wondering if it would be ok to delay my period by continuing to take the active blue pills? Is it safe?

Yes, you can skip your period this month. Itis very common for women to do, and normally the doctor will explain how to skip your period when he/she first prescribes the pills.
Basically, you will just skip the last 7 "inactive" pills and then start your new pack and take them like normal. So, finish the active pills of your current pack, then skip the last 7 inactive pills, then start a brand new pack and just take it like you normally would. You can have your period like normal next month, if you wish. While many women can go an entire year of skipping their periods, most medical professionals recommend that you skip no more than 3 periods in a row.

You can easily skip your period by continuing to the next pack. However, monthly pills aren't designed for continuous use so you may experience spotting or break through bleeding. I was on ortho cyclen but recently switched to seasonale. Now I only have a period every three months with no spotting or break through.

If you do that you might still end up having your period. OR you might spot or have breakthrough bleeding.

You could also really screw up your cycle by doing that. I decided I wanted to skip my period one week that I was doing something special and I have yet to get my cycle back on track. That was in August of last year and I have yet to have my period when I should. It ends up being on a white pill day and not when it should be happening. It is slowly coming back to normal.

I'm not a doctor & I'm not on the pill but I would say no. There's a reason why you stop taking the blue pills. You should ask your doctor or research it.

You can. But use it only for emergency and not as a routine. If you prefer to use it as a routine then you MUST consult a doctor.
