I wonder this as welll about the Muslims in Australia.
We have a shiek here that is continually making racist and sexist comments about Australians. The muslim community had the opportunity to fire him but didn't....Why?
I think there are two possible answers...
1. Muslims are afraid to speak out in fear of becoming targets themselves or disgracing their families
2. The sheik is saying what they all think but are too afraid to say themselves.
Either way it's not a good situation and it worries me greatly.
If #1 is correct than there is something wrong with our democratic system to the point where Australian Muslims aren't aloud to have free speech or be free from religious persecution...probably the reasons why they came to Australia in the first place.
If #2 is correct than the problem is obvious and we have a lot more terrorists living among us than we think.

A very wise question. I find it very strange that Muslims are victims of terrorism just the same as anyone else and yet resent efforts to prevent it. The hijackers weren't the only Muslims that died on 9/11, the Suicide Bombers I'm sure weren't the only Muslims that died on 7/7, and now, due to threats by Muslims against another Muslim, Muslims are suffering in Birmingham.
The Muslim community in Britain needs to take a step back and realise that resentment works both ways and if they resent other cultures - those born in Britain and otherwise - they will be resented in kind. Perhaps it is a bit of a chicken and egg situation, but as a whole, Britain goes out of its way for the Muslim community more than it does for any other ethnic or religious group and this should be respected and appreciated.
Failing that, without any desire to sound cruel, if you can't stand the heat, you know where the kitchen door is.

I honestly believe I've never heard (or read) a Muslim condemn terrorism -- not an honest opinion, expressed in their own words. Quoting the Koran or one of several Hadiths is utterly meaningless to me. It only illustrates that the Muslim's opinion is not really their own. Reciting memorized propaganda is not equivalent to actually having your own opinion. Can you understand this important point? It may be that within Muslim culture it is considered a virtue to repeat the Prophet's words in response to every question. To my ears, it sounds as if you have no mind of your own. On the other hand, after writing the above paragraph, I returned to your question and see that you've done exactly what I say Muslims never do -- namely, stated an honest opinion in your own words. I apologize. I was wrong, and in error. There was no Scripture in your question. My only rather lame excuse is to admit that, thanks to George Bush, I now tend to view all believers as irrational fundamentalists. It doesn't matter which faith, true believers cannot be trusted because they put their faith in an imaginary God before their allegience to their fellow human beings. They are traitors to the human race. I have tried to answer your question honestly, in the interest of finding our common humanity. It is not my intention to insult or demean your faith -- only to reveal my true feelings. I am genuinely happy to hear that "most Muslims" don't think I'm worth killing, if it costs them their own lives. I hope you appreciate this is cold comfort when one is surrounded by Christians who are themselves eager to die, so they may enjoy the pleasure of watching people like me burn in Hell.

This is something I wonder. Why aren't they "threatening backlashes" against the terrorists who have reduced this country to such a state in the first place??

'Moderate Muslim' is an Oxymoron. Muslims around the world have a knack for getting in conflict with the law. They'll come as minorities, enjoy the benefits & then stab the host country in the back claiming all the while that we're being targeted because we are Muslims or saying that we become terrorists because we are being denied equal opportunities.
Muslims are a party to every major conflict around the world such as:
1. 9/11
2. Israel-Palestine
3. Kashmir
4. Chechenya
5. Afghanistan/Iraq/Iran
What do you think is the underlying reason?
Their religion forbids them to live peacefully with non-Muslims. It's either they or them. Their religious texts preach hatred & violence toward non-Muslims as a means to spread Islam. They are so intolerant that even amongst themselves, Shias & Sunnis feel no remorse while slitting each others' throats in Iraq, Pakistan & other Islamic countries.

Totally agree but as i see it they live in close communities and dont want to snitch on people which is understandable if the were sticking up for a little boy who stole an apple but when it comes to terrorism they need to speak out so non Muslims get a better picture of what they are all about.

Excellent question! I'd love to know the answer to this myself, and I wish Sky News and BBC News 24 would QUIT giving so much airtime to Muslims bleating on about living in a police State that targets Muslims... IF THERE WEREN'T ANY BLOODY MUSLIM TERRORISTS THEN THE POLICE WOULD LEAVE YOU ALONE!! Muslims NEVER spend as much time condemning their so-called 'Muslim brothers' who terrorise us or who support/promote terrorism. All Muslims NEED to make a common effort to either SUPPORT the UK and its Citizens against Muslim terrorists, or they need to leave our lands - their LACK of action/voice AGAINST Muslim terrorists and their supporters is a clear sign to me that MUSLIMS SUPPORT THEIR ACTIONS!

Because they are all brainwashed into believing that they are better than the rest of us. I have no problem with people from other countries living and working in the UK if they accept the rules of living in our society and culture. The only ones causing any trouble are the Muslims and they wonder why they are targeted, its because they are the trouble makers. If they are not happy here let them go to Saudi Arabia or some other country where they can assimilate into the culture and be happy.

They won't come out and condemn something they support.
If they do come out and condemn it they are consider outcast among other Muslims for talking bad about other Muslims.
